Next time maybe you should just give them cash or a gift voucher and then perhaps they wont have to sell the present and they can put it towards whatever they must need the money for.

It must be horrible for you because you put so much thought into it, but don't take it personally, people can be funny when it comes to things like that.

There could be loads of reasons why she's selling it, as you didn't mention what their financial situation is, and what the gift was (maybe they've already got something like it and you don't know -- you mentioned they have other children?)

And to be honest, I'm sure we've all done it -- got rid of presents, for one reason or another. My little boy has been given things I've taken back to the shop or given away (clothes too small/wrong season/just something I don't want him to wear (skulls on baby clothes - no thanks! :eek:), or toys they're too big for/got something similar). It's not that I don't appreciate the thought, I really do, but I'd rather buy something I really want and will be used and loved -- I still see it as a present from the original person and appreciate it.

No don't think it is a money thing at all....they honestly have plenty of that. I was just a little sad that's all. I got her some bubble bath etc that is really expensive but as I knew she used it I splashed out for the baby.....never mind live and learn and all that

I think this is a great idea. Personally i would not feel very happy about it either and now you have said what the item was there really doesnt seem to be any excuse for her to have to sell it. Sorry to sound like this and i know we should really be making you feel better about it but if its something like bubble bath then you cant have too much as the baby always needs washing and as i see it as the more the merrier.

Hope you sort it out one way or another.

Id have to have a little fun here.

Id ring her and ask if the gift was ok cos Id seen some for sale on ebay unopened, as you thought it was really nice stuff you thought it might be a good idea to get some more - cos you can never have too much nice bubble bath.

this will stop her in her tracks -its obviously not cheap stuff or it wouldnt be worth selling it. id be a little upset at least she could have given it to someone who could use it if she didnt want it.

id love to hear what she has to say when you say your gonna bid on it lol

Hi, Please can you advise how long you have had this set? I ask as it can go off! Also why is it unwanted? ie...given by someone you don't like? or didn't like smell etc?! reason I ask is I would like to give this as a gift and would like to know that the recipient wouldn't sell it on! Kind regards
