Also what is about the taste you dont like? if anything your food should taste super after slow cooking.

That's a matter of opinion :) I far prefer food cooked in a casserole dish, and got rid of my SC as non of my family can stand the taste :)

Just take it back to argos with your bank statement and they will sort it out for you, just ask for a refund when they say do you want another.
    Slow cookers dont suit everyone.

Chris n tj, yes it was Argos and we paid by card. Will dig out a statement. About the taste...hmm.. dunno it is probably that chicken in it tastes more like a boiled one, and my OH is not keen on boiled meat. I blame it more on my cooking skills :D Even when I follow the recipe it is not good. And meatballs were not ready after 9 hours on slow (even browned before!)

Were you really after a more roasted chicken? Slow cookers boil or steam food, so if you want your bird roasted with a crispy skin, you need the dry heat of an oven :)

Oh, sorry :( I find simple roast chicken one of the least stressful of meals :) Just my opinion, I'll bow out now.

And a slow cooker will do just that ;). It's just a different method of cooking and will take getting used to. Some people on here are very anti them but I love mine and use it a couple of times a week for soups, stews, chilli, curry etc. I think there's just a knack of browning stuff off well first to get the flavour and not adding much liquid. I tend to use it to poach chicken rather than roast it but it is possible to slow cook it, then finish it in the oven to get a crispier skin.

Mine has done exactly the same - tiny cracks all inside it and if left for a few weeks gets all mouldy inside even after being washed and dried throughly. When I saw it for the first time I thought perhaps I might not have cleaned it after the last time I had used it so have used it once since. Mines a Morphy Richards also bought from Argos just a few months ago, probably used about half a dozen times in total !
