Oh moneytroubles, I'm sorry
That all sounds so pants
I can't think of any good advice (sorry!) but just want to post & offer you a bit of comfort
Try to focus on the fact you are paying the utilities as they're the most important so well done for that
I don't think the DJ has a leg to stand on so I hope you get it resolved

Thanks for the reply Honeybear, I have rang Gas and Electric and paid the £118 so at least i know im not in debt to them anymore, also as im not longer in arrears they have lowered my gas payments saving me £18 a month - (every penny counts)
Im still really worried about the DJ, i dont know if hes trying to scare me but it certainly work:j6 debts cleared since joining MSE:j:eek: Remaining debts... The DJ is probably trying to be opportunistic & is out for extra cash. Try not to worry, tho I understand it's horrible. If there's no signed paperwork & he has the deposit, I still don't see how he can't argue for the £400. He can't do anything this weekend, either way, but I'm no expert so hope someone else can help out a bit more.
And your OH is probably doing the big manly thing. Take it as the comfort & reassurance he probably means & come on here to talk about it@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? *hugs* for it all. I can't offer any advice though. Hi everyone, went out last night, and only spent something like £18 came home early as just couldnt stop thinking about all this debt
I have emailed the DJ and acknowledged his emails but I advised him that I have written to him and he should receive the letter within the next few days, and I have asked that any further correspondance be sent to me via royal mail, and I am basically going to write him a letter, stating that as he never mentioned any additional payment to OH's mum when she cancelled therefore we assummed the non refunable deposit was all we had lost, I am also going to include a cheque for £125 (instead of the 400 that he has asked for) as this together with his deposit that I have already lost amounts to 50% of the full balance, and state i am sending the cheque as a good will gesture, and advise him that if he wishes to get any more money then I would like to see a copy of his booking term and conditions and a copy of the signed contract that he sent us (which he wont have cos we never signed anything), and now just hope for the best!

I think you're being far too generous. The whole idea of a non-refundable deposit is that it guarantees his services & provides some sort of insurance payment for him in cases of cancellation, such as yours.
I'd really urge you not to pay anything at this time.@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Feb = 5/14 Mar = 14/20 Apr = 6/14 May = 2/14 June 2/14 July 0/TF Aug 1/TFv Sept 6/TF Oct 4/7"NEVER DOUBT YOUR OWN QUALITY"0 -
Hi, I have just dug out their terms and conditons that they emailed me and it doesnt actually mention that you have to pay outstanding balance, it just says you lose your deposit in cancellation, so going to print this off i think and highlight and attach to the letter xx:j6 debts cleared since joining MSE:j:eek: Remaining debts... Hi Moneytroubles been reading this from the start! first of all, well done you for going to uni and bettering yourself. I was doing a MSC part time distance learning but had to give that up due to lack of finances at the moment.
Im getting married soon so know full well all the stress with that. Completely agree with everyone else, i wouldnt give the DJ any extra cash and suggest citizens advice bureau if it gets any serious, they will be able to advise you.
Also on serious money saving too, challenged H2B that we dont need the heating on (little flat!). Im also walking to work instead of getting the tube (had bike nicked my bike a couple of months ago! Will replace when money has improved!!).
Good look and dont worry, its only money at the end of day. Saying this i worry quite a bit about it!! doah!

Hi Clarissa thanks for the reply, and good luck planning your wedding
I really hope that one day we will get married but it will be a few years away now, but im quite happy with that at the moment!
We have also been in contact with the videographer, we did have a signed contract with him, however he has compramised with us and said we can pay him 50% in 4 installments so thats not too bad, at the end of the day he still has to make a living!
Well done on the heating, im exactly the same, i am now putting on jumpers, and blankets and making hot water bottles!
I went to makro earlier and bought cat and dog food in bulk which means we shouldnt have to buy any more for sometime and it saves us money in the long run!
