  • brilliant stuff - well done! I used to berate my OH for always coming back with huge mobile bills as that's his thing really and I'd mostly had PAYG, but when he got his iphone I took his remaining contract phone. I was so sheepish the month I had abill that was £65 instead of £20!!!!

You're sounding much more positive - keep up the good work!

  • Aw thank you so much for that homegrown life, def do wanna get married and regret that we didnt when it was planned, but the financial stress of it all just formed a wedge between us, once we cancelled it a great weight was lifted, and now we are rebuilding our relationship and its ace.

I have learnt loads from planning this wedding though that I will consider when i do eventually re book the main one being its MY AND OH's wedding and I will be alot stricter, as basically everyone walked all over me in the run up to the wedding!

    xxxx

So many couple spend thousands upon thousands (some over £10,000) on the getting married bit. I've never understood that. Yes, all the fancy stuff would be nice but all that money for one day? I'd rather buy a new car for 10 grand than spend it on one day for a wedding. When I got married we were not poor, but we didn't (either of us) want to spend a fortune on the 'getting married' bit. It cost us £63 at the Register Office and his mam made treats for the reception and we had it at her house for the few guests we had invited to our special day. I bought a beautiful 2nd hand wedding dress for such a cheap price for a dress that originally had cost over £1,000 (think I paid £50?) and no one knew it was 2nd hand and I looked lovely. I've now been married almost 23 years. Not starting married life off in debt did help and we had no stress at all about getting married. I did stress about my hair that morning as it wouldn't go right lol - but that was it. I was and am a very girly girl and I was happy with my cheap wedding. Those that want to get married do. It's funny you know, the one's we knew back then that spent many thousands on fancy weddings are now divorced (most within 8 years) and us? we spend a few hundred and are still at it, pain-in-the-!!! that he is sometimes lol.

If you want to get married, you don't need a fancy wedding. You just need each other, a commitment that you keep (ie: you stay married through the good and the bad) love and people there who care about you. Think about it...it need not be years down the road to your special day. You already have the dress. You coudl book it in a few months and do it for a few hundred pounds, if you wanted to. Just an idea :p
  • Hi all, been such a long day, and im not curled up with a blanket and hot water bottle waiting for xfactor!

AJ, try not to worry about those people at the gym, your there for you not them and if they have a problem then tough :D

surbanwifey thanks for your post, you are so right, and who knows we may get married soon at the moment im too exhausted to think about it though lol will def keep you posted though :D

Made another PAD of £1 to the very catalogue :D XXX
