  • Glad you're feeling better now.

My only concern about the laptop is that it looks like you'll be paying over £500 for it, which seems really expensive (£10 a week). Look through all the options, don't rush into it, try and get your old one fixed and see how it goes. Can you get a smaller netbook for half that price maybe? If there's no other option but to get a new one, make sure the way you buy it is a savvy as possible. Have you any credit left on a credit card? Not ideal either, but you don't want to land yourself with an extra £40 a month bill when you're stretched at the best of times.

    Take care

  • Hiya, thanks for the replies, my laptop is a 6 year old now and it doesnt work on its own meaning it has to be plugged in all the time, however it has now started switching off while plugged in, - i dont know much about laptops but OH said its knackered?

Also sorry i werent clear in my last message, I dont intend on spending 500 on a laptop - more around 300 - 400 (tops) i just thought if if i saved £10 a week then i would have more than enough to pay it back next year if i was to get buy now pay next year! not gonna to rush into anything though - ideally I would like to wait till after xmas but with deadlines and essays coming up not sure if i can make it that long. Ah well we will see and I will keep you posted!

Anyway going to phone student finance, and will let you know how i get on with them. Thanks xx

  • so long as you take your time about it all and don't rush in you'll be fine. I know what you mean about laptops, my big laptop is on it's last legs!! I did get a nice little netbook before my LB moment so hoping that will last me. I hope you didn't think I was being too negative before :o

    Good luck with student finance!

  • Hiya! Don't worry homegrown life, I didn't think you was being negative at all! I think this month is going to be one of my hardest yet, got myself in a pickle borrowing money from sis for fees as it's left me short this month! The wii is going on eBay so hopefully bring in some extra pennies!

Rang student finace and there still working their way through applications, honestly it's killing me, hopefully be sorted soon though!

Was supposed to be Xmas shopping this week, however think I need to give it a miss *sigh* I hate these sorta days, but I have got through them once so I will get through them again!

Still not been able to make any payments to very as comp keeps crashes so that's frustrating!

Anyway enough moaning for one night I think! Speak to you all soon xxxx

  • Hi money troublkes whats the make of your laptop, my oh is an it guy ive just asked him he says it sounds like 1) the battery is mashed so a new battery for laptop depending on model could cost 50 quid but i need to know the model and its more than likely switching off because its overheating and therfiore sounds like the fan as gone so it could be cheaper to fix it and look at a new one when you have disposable 100's :D xx

  • Hiya everyone - im back - yayyyyyyy!

sorry I havent been around but as you know my laptop broke!

Realised while I was offline how much I need all you lovely people, was starting to feel like I was straying abit! really feeling the pressure at the moment of working part time and christmas. Decided to put padding on hold till after xmas now, and also I am paying minimum payments for december only, then come Jan its back to hardcore debt busting!

Finally started ebaying - sold my wii and also got some games on there so every bit is helping, was hoping for some overtime over xmas but there is no hours :(

Got my annual statement from Barclays and I owe 1800 for my car which is surprising as i thought it was over 2 grand still so i pleasant surprise really :) still aiming to get very and my overdraft paid off asap, i feel I am so close yet so far also hitachi i think has 2 payments left, i really really want to pay something off!

    Anyway how is everyone xxx
