I reckon you'd be best off looking at the Barclaycard Initial in that case. I take it you actually purchased your Equifax score and it came up "Good"?

A lot of people on here slate the credit ratings you get online, and I agree in the case of Experian and Call Credit but Equifax tend to be quite accurate.

I reckon, as long as you've missed no payments in the last 12 months, you should apply for this:

    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal-home/cards/initial/index.html

From what you've said, it should be an instand "YES!".

With the default being from less than three years ago I would expect you to be declined for anything with a lower APR unfortunately :(

Let us know how you get on ;)

I'm going to get an absolute rollocking from NID and Moggles for saying this, but I would say if you get your score from anyone it should be Equifax.

If you don't mind the £6 I'd say it's worth a punt! Atleast then you dont need to either:

Apply for a high interest card when you have a "Good" or "Excellent" score
or Apply for a low interest card only to get turned down because you have a "Poor" score.

Also, do you mind if I ask:

How long have you lived at your current address?
How long have you been with your current employer?
How long have you been with your Bank?

Reason I ask is that credit providers really like the answer to those questions to be three years or more, it really really helps :)

That will bode very well for you especially if you have been on the electoral role for that long.

    Well, it's upto you.

I'd say it's between applying for the Barclaycard Initial or getting your Equifax score to see if it's worth applying for the Barclaycard Gold - which is only ever so slightly more strictly credit scored ;)

Ah they give it to you for £6 if you sign up for the free 30-day trial of the credit monitoring tool "Credit Watch Gold" I think it's called ;)

Edit: Once you've signed up for the free 30-day trial of the credit report monitoring thing you get this in the member centre:

    hello iztools
i have done the equifax score and it came up 366 fair bang in the middle, i was hoping it would have been higher, but it was that settled default that brought it down.

The equifax score is very good in telling you what is at fault isn't it?

Experian and Call Credit don't rate defaults either way - their score is useless compared to Equifax.

Still, atleast you now know what to apply for. I'd try for the Barclaycard Initial, I'd say you have a good chance of being immediately accepted, and if your score is enough over their "threshold" you might be offered a balance transfer rate on your existing cards.

    Here's the initial card page:

    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal-home/cards/initial/index.html

Good luck matey & do let us know how you get on!
