in Credit cards
Hi All!
Was just wondering, of anyone knows how strict Sygma Bank are with their credit scoring on the FlyBe and JJB cards?
My other half has not missed any payments on credit in 24 months, hasn't made any applications in the last six months, and doesn't have any outstanding defaults, but does have one settled default from two years ago and some history of arrears from over two years ago.
Don't want to waste a credit search so was wondering about other people's experiences? Just that OH has a £1,500 Vanquis balance that he would dearly love to transfer away from that high interest hell!!
(Vanquis a/c has been open just a shade under two years with £2,000 limit and no missed payments)

do you have any link bank or credit account. If you have he may find it difficult with your history0

No I went through the rigmaroll of a Notice of Dissasociation with all three CRAs at the beginning of this year, so no links between us whatsoever. My crummy history is mine alone now!
But OH has no CCJs, just one old satisfied default and some previous arrears from many years ago. All spick and span for the last 24 months.
Whatcha reckon? Who's going to relieve him from this awful Vanquis APR of 59.9% you think?
EDIT: Capital One said "YES" to Classic but with a third the limit he'd need to xfer the balance (They offered £500).
Aqua Card said "NO" but I would put that down to excessive searches. That was earlier in the year and the searches are zero in last six months on EQ and 1 in last six months on EX. He got a bit search-happy after the NOD completed in February.
His EX score is "Fair", but as we all know, that can mean nothing.
Haven't bothered paying for an EQ score, can't justify the cost, the EQ score was probably a waste of £6 too.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Hi I applied for a Flybe card in Feb,got a straight decline.I have a Vanquis card,and a Capitalone Card.
I applied for an Accessory Card (sygma) last week online and got we will contact you in the next 5/7 days, though that was it another decline. However recieved a call end of last week, they wanted a few more details, the lady said that is fine we will send you out an agreement for you to sign, got that on saturday signed and posted back yesterday.
I by no means have a perfect credit file, and had a few missed payments last year.
I am sure someone with abit more experiance will be along shortly with better advice.Credit Cards, Vanquis £3000 Capitalone £1500
Accessory(sygma) £1250

Do you mind if I ask, have you got any defaults, satisfied or otherwise, on your credit report?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Its unlikely you'll get accepted with a default only 2 years old. You have to realise that is high risk to any lender, whether settled or not, and Sygma Bank are strict in that they report you to cifas for the silliest of things - they are quite notorious for it, but then again other people like them!
Its a 50% chance but you could find it will hinder you, after all you do have a default remember. 2 years is not long enough, lenders usually want to see a few years not 2!

Have an indifferent credit file, but have recently got a Vanquis card £250.00 Credit Limit. 10 Days later was accepted for a Fly-Be £1000.00 limit.
Arranged to have a balance transfer of £200.00 from Vanquis to Fly-be.
0% + £6.00 charge
Accepted by Fly-be, however 10 days later, no acknowledgement from Vanquis. Rung them, and was told in no uncertain tone, that Balance transfers are not allowed.
In there small print.
Have not found it yet
Therefor i don't think your £1500 can be transferred.
Would be interested in any other experiences with the Provident/Vanquis !!!!!.

I did have a default,it is due to come off this month with the Halifax, and a partial settlement that just came off last week.Three late payments marked on my Vanquis card last year, which were noted on my file, but since has been brought upto date, and just recieved a increase from Vanquis today.
So I would go for it.You can always apply again in a few months like I did and got a yes the 2nd time round.
Must admit in the last 3mths I have been knotty as I want to do a BT and have applied for 3 CC and got 2 no's and a yes from the Accessory Card.
So that is me now no more applying for anything.Credit Cards, Vanquis £3000 Capitalone £1500
Accessory(sygma) £1250

You're missing the point - the default is only 2yrs old (isnt yours like 6 years old?) and will generate a decline! I'd suggest definitely not wasting time cos its too new and this will be immediately picked up and referred to which the u/w will say no chance, bye!
I'll get an u/w to confirm this if it helps? Ritchie74 - where are you?

Vanquis do not offer BT's but if you want to BT the Vanquis balance (to a new card), you do this via a Credit Card cheque with the new card provider. Yea, slightly dearer but thats how to pay the Vanquis debt off - - - - - or as below! lol (edited)...

Hi hove park bench bbc,
I find this odd as just like you I also applied and was accepted for the Flybe card.
However, just like you I have done 2 balance tranfers from 2 different Vanquis cards (myself and OH).
Both transfers were successfull so im a little lost as to why you weren't able to do it?
Did you ask sygma to do a manual transfer as this is the only way you can transfer to vanquis, as provident say they don't normally accept balance transfers but a manual transfer does work
Give 'em a ring and tell them you want to transfer a Vanquis balance and they need to do it manually. It will take upto 14 days to happen but it will happen.0
