£6600 ORANGE bill :( help!

What costs or losses have Orange incurred because of this action? Anything above this is profit for Orange because of someone's lack of knowledge to know how much they were being charged.0

Ofcom would have nothing to say about this, they probably hear 100 similar stories a day, Orange cant police peoples account for them, and to spend six thousand pounds in a month is certainly not unusual for some businesses0

I had a customer who had an £800 bill for data with TMobile. She called me in a panic and I spoke to custo er services, explained she hadnt realised the cost, and as a goodwill, they added the webnwalk plus bolt on to her account and reduced the charge to £12.50. she was extremely happy with that, and i was impressed with TMobiles attitude. Mistakes happen.0

I would love to begin negotiating at a third but the best they are willing to come down to is 4K.
I have tried explaining the fact that to remove an amount from a huge bill of anything less than 80% will still leave... a huge bill.
I am standing my ground and offering £0.25p per mb used. it feels fair to me. Oranges argument for the huge cost is that how the data is accessed determines the cost of serving the data and as it was via GPRS it is a justified charge...
This is utter !!!!!!!! as a £20 per month 8 gig usage allowance USB dongle package uses GPRS to serve its data via an internal sim card.
yes but your PHONE has different settings to the modem and isnt capable of viewing standard web pages unlike a laptop/computer hence why they dont offer an 8 gig limit on it
if it was on the other foot and your little company billed orange as they had missused your product through there own stupidity and ignorance would you expect them to pay the full amount i think you wouldReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -

That is incorrect, the only thing not capable of displaying the page is the browser on the phone not the modem. Thanks to TCP/IP & HTML + other web standards, the modem will receive everything the same as a normal pc modem.
Reason for the lower limits is supply vs. demand. Unlike fibre optic which can have an almost unlimited bandwidth given the right technology, mobile broadband uses radio frequencies aka spectrum which is a finite resource.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

This is a really helpful post for the OP. The more he can say that others paid ao much for their usage the more it lends to the arguement.samperry209 wrote: »yeah i had similar t mobile are good for this

Orange should have a very weak case because of the exaggerated claim. No reasonable person would expect to pay that amount. Get in touch with Press Office for Orange and ask them various questions concerning your case as you intend to go to the media and you dont want to get your facts incorrect. This often leds to good results as the press office know the value of good and bad press and often take up your case. Do make sure though that you are talking to someone in a senior position.0 -
Yep well
I can also add to this
My brother had similar back in 2006 he was stupid and used GPRS for a quick PDF download of 7Mb.. and for this he got charged by orange £80 quid i think...
Dunno but orange in my opinion have changed alot... i was loyal customer to them for 9 years then they just got too expensive to use
Im with o2 now... and never had a issue im so happy ive got fixed line broadband with them0 -
Yeah and Orange are getting the Iphone. I assume they must offer unlimited browsing.0
