£6600 ORANGE bill :( help!

Hi all,

I manage a small small business in leamington, we dont make much money but it keeps three of us employed and happy enough. Last year we got out a mobile phone package with Orange for three phones and its been great so far, service is good, the cover plans excellent.

however... a few weeks back, one of the directors modem died so he used his mobile, he downloaded about 2 gigabytes and for that Orange are charging us six thousand pounds...

Ive tried to tell them that A) its insane, B)we simply dont have that kind of money and C)even if we did theres no way in hell I would pay six thousand pounds for two gigabytes.

do you have any suggestions ? :(

Have you spoken to Orange about this?

Sack the director unless he coughs up from his own coffers.
At best Orange might reduce the charge (on the grounds of plain stupidity) but what sort of director is this who does not check first...
  • It the company is a partnership, it won't make a jot of difference (sacking the director). as all the 'Directors' are jointly liable for the debt of the company.

This is taken from Oranges T&Cs

    Pay as you use rates
Customers who do not have an Orange World for Business data bundle will be charged the pay as you use rate of £2.55 per MB.

Yes but to stop a repeat in future, might as well get rid - must be a real nugget to switch to mobile from a modem!
    Bankruptcy maybe?

Joking aside, Orange should be able to reduce the charge if anything to keep future business.

Must have been 2.35GB if that bill is accurate.

Phone up and ask if they have a bill shock process.

he`s a co director so makes no difference, he`s a bloody good designer too, but alass, he is also a prize winning idiot.

I guess it's too late to suggest a pay-as-you-go bundle instead; this has a built in credit stop.
