Don't worry, I'm sure the whole thread will disappear soon.

12 pages? What an excellent wind up thread. Nobody would be so stupid to take someone to court over something so minor.

WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN.
  • i thought this forum was for advice?

this thread provided me with some great advice and support, and then a few trolls decided to try and ruin it.

i personaly don't mind, i can just ignore the idiots.

but if new members come on here and see how stupid some posters are it could put them off asking for help
  • Returning to the reason for the thread, and what was said in the update, anybody employed with children has to have an enhanced CRB disclosure. If the nursery nurses now seek employment elsewhere, the outcome will be listed on the CRB and it is unlikely that they will be employed by another childcare provider.

I am involved (as a director) in a community nursery and I am quite sure that if one of the employees had cut a child's hair without parental permission, it would be taken very seriously by the management board. As already stated, it is technically assault, whether various posters agree with this or not. In carrying out this action, the employees concerned have not only gained a criminal record for themselves, but have also brought the reputation of the nursery into disrepute. This could have serious financial consequences for the nursery, as many people could avoid sendingt heir children there. If this happens, closure may be the only option, causing other, innocent, members of staff to lose their jobs.

If the nursery had not lied to the OP, nor made other (potentially serious) errors, the OP might have taken a different route. Personally, I feel that she was correct to follow this through, although I think I would have made an appointment with the owner of the nursery first, to express concerns and find out if any internal action could be taken. It does not sound as though the nursery was very well managed (I wonder if the nursery manager was one of the members of staff in court?). If the OP had ignored this, along with the other errors, there was the potential for further incidents that could have far more serious consequences.

As for the bickering about grammar, some posters sound as young as the children attending the nursery! Yes, poor spelling, punctuation and grammar can be annoying for many, but that is no reason to be insulting. Somebody said that a poster can always say that they have dyslexia or other problems with literacy, but why should they? Perhaps everyone should accept that we are all different and have different strengths and weaknesses.

This forum is for advice.Unfortunately a lot of people post wind-up threads which generate a lot of silly debate-like this one.
