Dear ********
Thank you for your e-mail.
Waitrose accept suppliers' coupons for any product which we sell, including Waitrose Food Illustrated coupons, whether or not the customer is purchasing the item for which the coupon was issued. Cashiers may accept any quantity of coupons provided that the coupons are valid.
Regards,
Melanie Thompson
Waitrose Customer Service.
Now, all I need is a fistful of vouchers. Waitrose isn't my nearest supermarket but their food is the biz so it's worth the drive!!
I had exactly the same email back, it must be a standard thing.
Anyway, went on my first expedition to Waitrose today, spent £41.85 and handed over a big wedge of coupons. Assistant called supervisor who said that they couldn't take that many (bearing in mind most were the same Gillette £2 off and it was 9am and only one till open) I politely said that I had checked with HO and would they like to see the email response that was in my bag. She had a quick look and said 'put them all through'. £ 40 off so total bill of £1.85
I was a bit nervous and could have timed it better but Waitrose is not near me and I had to go this morning.
I am going to go round several different Waitrose stores and stock up for Christmas over the next couple of weeks, but I am going to carry the email with me just in case.
ps I didn't use any Olay vouchers as there would have been too much scrutiny of them, so will try these another time.0 -
Well done Harrietxxx that was a great saving - I don't mind handing over the vouchers it is when (and thankfully not very often) that I am challenged that I get abit flustered.
Haven't tried Waitrose yet

Cheers Welshy, I was quite proud of myself. What I want to know is how you get sooo many clubcard points, every time I read a post you have got at least 700 points or something on a 20 quid shop.
Of course if it's a trade secret then I completely understand, I'm just trying to build up enough points for a little family holiday next year.
By the way, you are a top MSE'r.0 -
ah bless thanks Harrietxxx - maybe I am just more of a Tesco anorak than most people LOL. I clock up my points by combining vouchers eg this week:
I have a £5 off a £20 spend on homeware eg duvets etc
I have a 200 point voucher for spending £20 or more on non-food items
I have 2 x 100 till spills for spending £4 or more on homeware
so for a £15 spend I will have earned 415 points - then the total will be reduced by using money off vouchers too.
I have my eye on one particular set of till spills at the mo which close in approx 90 mins - why someone has an auction ending so late I do not know. From my powerselling shop days on ebay I know that buyers don't like late night auctions - however as a buyer I should get them cheaper.

rozeepozee wrote:Um, Welshie........ what is a 'till spill'? It sounds messy
Hiya rozeepozee - a till spill is a voucher generated by a Tesco till after your receipt is printed out. It may be an extra point voucher or a money off voucher. So when the cashier hands you some paper, always check to see if you get one. Coupon-mad has a theory about when till spills are generated and how frequently. If you have never had a till spill it could be that you have opted out of tesco promotional offers and by phoning clubcard you can check.
Till spills bear no name so for the avid tesco point collector they are a great way of adding points without the hassle of the cashier seeing a different name on the vouchers when checking the scanned clubcard.

We have a 'routine' now, we both go round the supermarket together and then he goes to look at the DVD's and CD's whilst I 'do my stuff', then we meet up in the car park.
Although hubby loves money saving, he would by far pay full price than hand over any vouchers.
I realised how far it had gone the other day when we were in M&S buying some new clothes. We were at the till and I got my 'voucher' purse out as it still had my cc in it, hubby went white and started backing up. I couldn't stop laughing as he had obviously thought I was going to try and pay for my new clothes with Quick Read and Olay vouchers (obviously I wasn't, just happended to need my cc from that purse).
The sales assistant must have wondered what on earth I was laughing at and why the hubby had suddenly disappeared!0 -

Welshy, you may have answered a question that has been bugging me. I was only moaning again today that I NEVER get till spits even though I shop in Tesco nearly every day. I will give the clubcard people a ring tomorrow, or can I check online?
Thanks again for yet another pearl of wisdom0 -
Harriet you are better off phoning them and checking. The CS are very helpful. When I had a clubcard voucher for a bottle of fairy liquid that no store sold, I phoned them up and had 50 points credited to my account.
