  • Felicity is that done on excel - I use that in the office but haven't got around to using it on this PC. Maybe I should check out what else is on my PC apart from this site LOL.

My home page is set to this site which shows how obessessed I am !

Has anyone used the Quick Read £1 off vouchers in Tesco without buying a book successfully?

I am always embarrassed about using vouchers and always make sure I've bought the goods, but this thread is bringing me round slowly.

Will have to summon up some courage for this weekends shop!
I'm handing Quick Read vouchers over 3 at a time atm as they expire in December and I have a fair few to use before then!

I truly have become obsessed and now I have a bit of time to kill as I'm kind of on maternity leave I'm going through this thread (it's become a bit of an epic, eh, Felicity OP) and distilling all the wisdom so I can do a summary post. Only up to page 4 yet!

    Hi,

I just put in the amount it should have been in one column, then the amount I actually spent and from that I work out the actual amount saved and percentage amount saved.

I put in the date and supermarket also, so if I am feeling really anal I can work out how much saving by each supermarket over a period of time ....

Now should I have admitted that?:embarasse
Don't be embarassed! You and a few others here are my coupon gurus :rotfl:

Really mustg learn how to use excel: I'm a bit intimidated by anything mathematical. What formula do you use to get it to do the calculation?

I still haven't had the courage to use my Quick Read vouchers, I'm steadily going thru' loads of nappy ones at the moment, as I buy loads of baby stuff I feel justified in using them..........but still I must try harder!!!

I'm quite proud of myself with regard to voucher use, being a newbie to all this, as last week a SA told me I could only use 1 voucher if I hadn't bought the items. I was so cool about it, normally I would have flushed bright red and got in a real state, in fact, I pointed out I had bought toiletries therefore she had to accept 2 vouchers...........

................£2 saved is better than nothing. :T

I can mail anybody my spreadsheet if you PM me your e-mail address. Then you can copy my format.

    Alternatively ...

OK, this is how to make the spreadsheet ...

    1. Put your headings at the top of the columns (however you want to word it, ie Actual value of goods, Actual spent, Saving amount etc)

    2. Then under the Actual value of the goods, type in the amount on the receipt that you would have paid before you used any vouchers. Then in the next column type in the amount you actually paid after voucher saving.

    3. Then under the next column click on the field, then type the '=' button, then put the curser over the field where you typed in the amount before using vouchers, then type the '-' button and then put the curser over the amount you actual spent after the voucher saving. Then press return.

Then you will automatically get the voucher saving in that third field.

Is that understandable? The reason that you should do it automatically is that you can then drag the column down to automate it a little.

If anybody is interested I can go into further info on how to do it, but thought I would make a start here.

Oh, and before anybody asks, I really don't know why some of my coupon savings end with pennies

I certainly can't remember having any coupons that ended with an penny, ie they are normally 30p, 50p, £1 off etc.

I can only think it is because I played with the formatting that some of the decimals at the end got mixed up, but it is as accurate as possible give or take a few pennies.

Too tired now to look into it, might double check tomorrow.
  • Well thank you Felicity, you have inspired me so as I cannot sleep as OH is on night's I think I will set one up !

OK, should be quite simple if you are used to Excel at work.

Do you know to drag the columns down instead of copying or re-entering? Makes life a bit more simple.

The 'sort' functionality is great too for working out spend per supermarket (errr, not that you will need that much you Tesco gal you!) and per date range.

If you get stuck I will be on here for another 30 mins or so, but needing matchsticks for my eyes at the moment as had a hectic w/e involving lots of alcohol and very little sleep!

Not very money saving, but fun anyway!

I suppose to make it even more valuable, we should also be adding any other bonuses such as BOGOF values, clubcard points, nectar points etc??

OK, maybe not. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
