somerfield and sainsburys coupons DO scan in Tescos, It is just a question of who serves you. some SA just scan, scan, scan coupons and dont check them, thinking if they scan then they should be okay. i often sneak somerfield coupons in with my other coupons and if they go through that is great, if they dont i'll try the next time i go in. its great if a £5 one slips through unnoticed! even expired somerfields go through. i recently slipped in some from April!!

regarding out of date coupons, as long as the SA in Asda or Tesco dont notice the date they still scan. I try to slip in one or two with each shopping trip.

If I have a specific coupon say for something I dont use, eg Kenco or Tassimo machine items, I buy the item and then take it back, as often with these type of coupons the SA has to put a price in when they scan the bar code.
    Just about to give up!

Hi all. Can you please tell me where you find these vouchers. I've started looking in magazines but have not come across one yet.

The first thing I would do is start checking the Newspaper Coupon Summary on this board every day. The posts there will tell you if there any money-off coupons in National Newspapers (none worth having today, I have just checked).

But often there will be a post to tell you that a paper has a coupon worth, say £1.50 or more (usually off a magazine but that's irrelevant as you are looking to use these like cash against your shopping, not buy the item..;) ).

Last week the Daily Mail had a £1.50 coupon one day, then 2 coupons totalling nearly £2 the next day. I would go out and buy 10 copies of that newspaper, just for the coupon, so would other coupon-users!

Also look on this board for postings of other coupons. Try searching for 'Prima' in the chat forums, there is a recent thread about it having a book of coupons in the plastic bag with the August copy (along with a free Best magazine). But my copy had no coupon booklet so I emailed Prima and they kindly sent me one, worth a few pounds at Tesco! See the thread for info, here it is:

Finally, I have bought manufacturers' coupons on ebay but you need to be sure they have a good long expiry date (ideally December) if you buy in bulk. Also you may have to pay about half the face-value which is quite a large amount up-front, and you would need to check that they are not store-specific (e.g. Sainsbury's only or even Tesco only - no good for these purposes). Also make sure first from the seller that you are buying the original coupons, not photocopies or internet-printed versions (you can print these yourself for free when tipped off by and MSE post on this board!).

    HTH :o

i forgot my coupons the other day and was quite upset at having to pay full price!!!!

i know it's know a given right to be using these coupons, but your purse really feels it when they're rejected or you forget them :D

I am sooo happy with my new coupon knowledge. I pass my local tesco nearly everyday and am addicted to dropping in, even to pick up the smallest shop. Today bought 4 pack Imperial Leather soap, cotton buds and wipes and with £1.50 off in vouchers this cost 84p:j :j:j

Yes, I am the same. I pop in to Tesco to buy a magazine or just milk. Today I got Woman and Woman's Own and used a 50p coupon on a £1.60 shop - I just say 'is it OK to scan a coupon, I know I haven't spent much this time but I only have small change on me' (I hold out some small change and smile in what I hope is a friendly way, not a coupon-obsessed way!!).

This is good moneysaving as I am getting a high percentage off in coupons each time, and also try to use cash more often than my credit card. I only work in term-time, and not all day, so I can shop regularly like this just after dropping my little coupons at school. Still have the rest of the day ahead for housework and other such thrilling stuff, lol!!:D

hi.. coupn-mad how are you this morning..... welll last night my lovely long run of multiple voucher use came to an end... when i was handing my coupons over a supervisor ran over and said only 10% off ...in vouchers..she was very direct.....so when i told her that another supervisor has said any amount as long as the till takes them she said no... its always been 10%....so to get them back it just so happened that i had 2 items to be paid for seperately...as i knew one of them was an r & r... and a try me free... so paid for them without using vouchers and went straight to the c.c desk... the last laugh was on me then......had a free gameboy advance game then.....so will stick to the voucher rule for only 10% for a while, but now will concentrate on r & r's and also start wombling i think......
off to another tescos now........happy shopping everyone...:rotfl:
