Where/who do these 'come from'?
When do they appear? (timewise)
And do you just do one for the kids, or do parents get one too?
Hello, Welcome to the thread :T Our Xmas eve hamper is given to us by our Christmas Elf Otis. He leaves it as a good bye present as he goes back home to the North Pole with Father Christmas on Xmas Eve. I leave ours for my children to find just after teatime but it upto you what time during the day. That time suits us. We do ours for our children but adults can definately indulge too :TMember of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -

I've just bought the cello cones from Ebay so I'll be making Smowman Soup [and variations of]. I'm getting more excited about Xmas Eve than about Xmas Day now!!

I am just joining this thread too and i think this is a wonderful idea!! Thank you for all the tips mentioned! The only thing i am worried about is on a tight budget it will make Christmas morning gifts look less i still think it is worth it for the family time spent on Christmas eve. Thanks again. Will report back once i start buying for my hampers. x0

Dont worry about making Christmas look less! This can be done on a tight budget, spending very little, or even nothing!
My Chistmas Eve Stories were printed free from http://www.northpole.com/ and they were personalised too. I copied "Twas the night before xmas" from a site on the Internet and copied pictures of my little one into the various verses and printed that off for him too.
You can print off and colour your own Santa Stop Here signs, which would be great fun for the kids too, and then you can help stick them in the window.
If you dont need to go to the additional expense of a new fleecy blanket, then use one you already have. Or embroider an existing one (if you can! - Im not that good!)
Put some porridge oats in a sandwich bag and tie with a festive ribbon and attach the following label.... http://christmas.organizedhome.com/printable/gift-tags/magic-reindeer-food You can do the same with Hot chocolate - put some in a sandwich bag with some marshmallows and chocolate buttons (if you have them) and attach a snowman soup label....http://christmas.organizedhome.com/printable/gift-tags/snowman-soup
Bake some cookies and put them in the hamper too - and rather than buying a DVD or christmas movie - schedule the 'delivery' of your hamper to coincide with something thats on TV that you can all sit and watch together!
Hope this helps xx
Some people seem to have come on the thread thinking we have bombarded our kids with a whole load of additional presents on Christmas Eve and spent a fortune! That doesnt have to be the case. All of the above can be done for Free...using what you have at home and a little bit of imagination....

Hello all
I have got ready my childrens xmas eve hamper now except the snowman soup as i will make that up and add nearer the time.
My mum is coming to stay and i think i would like to make her a mini xmas eve hamper as she doesnt go anywhere, do anything really and doesnt have a lot of money so would really like to involve her whilst she is staying with us over the xmas season. What i am wondering is where can i get cheapish plus size p.j's for her and also she has dentures so will she still use a toothbrush!! Sorry but i dont even know that! lol
Also she is not really a hot chocolate drinker but loves coffee so any ideas what i can do with coffee instead of hot chocolate? Thanks for any advice XMember of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -

We're on a mega tight budget this year aswell and the Xmas Eve pressies I'm giving my children are a couple of what they would normally get on Xmas day but I'm adding mega cheap things like the snowman soup and the reindeer food and Father Christmas mince pie and milk. I'm doing it in the form of a hamper this year just to make it a bit more special for them so that it makes what will be a tight Xmas appear not to be IYSWIM.
Most of my pressies have been bought using this site and doing ALOT of internet shopping. Sainsburys aren't gonna know whats hit them tomorrow for the toy sale!!!
