  • as a younger plus size person, I have just discovered ASOS do plus size, they have some really nice items in their sale, I needed a dress for a wedding & picked up a beautiful navy dress reduced from £70 to £20.

There are also lots of items that are definately not my taste but we can't all like everything.

Also free postage which was a bonus

Why is so much plus size clothing in polyester and other manmade fibers?
Does anyone know a shop that has 100% cotton and silks in plus sizes?

Has anyone ordered from Ulla Popken? I came across their website thanks to the initial post on this thread and really like the look of a lot of their clothes. I've lately been struggling to find anything I want in the likes of Evans, Yours, Simply Be etc, so am really keen to order from Ulla Popken. However they are expensive and you have to pay for returns.

So for anyone who has ordered from them, is the quality worth the price? And what is their sizing like? Looking at their size chart, and comparing it to Evans size chart, for example, it looks as though I should order a size or two bigger from Ulla Popken than I would normally order. Can anyone confirm if that sounds about right (ie that their sizing is small)?

Would really appreciate any tips before I take the plunge and order from them.

I don't think their sizing is very small - can't compare to Evans as it's a long time since they have had anything there I would want to buy! I would probably size down one size in UP, but a lot is dual sizing and it does depend whether you like your clothes looser or fitted. I tend to buy T shirts there and I don't like them tight. Their clothes are often a bit longer than those of the competition; at 5'8" that's fine for me! Personally I wouldn't order a bigger size but others may disagree.

I do like the fact that there are a lot of tops in cotton and not all in polyester.

Thank you, that's really helpful! I wonder if the UP size guide is a bit off. I'm normally a size 24 for trousers and my waist measurement matches the Evans size guide for a size 24, however according to the UP size guide, my waist measurement is a size 28, so I was confused about what size to order.

I know what you mean about there being nothing in Evans you'd want to buy - I'm finding that with all the plus size retailers at the moment. I'm in my mid forties, and I don't want old fashioned shapeless clothes, but I also don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb. I have been trying to find a decent pair of jeans for ages, but it's almost impossible to find any that aren't skinny jeans or jeggings. All power to anyone who doesn't mind wearing skin tight denim around their chunky thighs, but it's really not a look for me! I also struggle with leg length for trousers as I need at least a 32inch inside leg, and I was pleased to see that UP do a variety of lengths.

I guess I'll just have to take the plunge and order a couple of things to see how the sizing is.

I don't wear trousers so can't comment on jeans, but have you tried Witt International? https://www.witt-international.co.uk/womens/_/N-1cZ19?Ntt=jeans&searchType=FullText&cs_ev=navigation-_-leftnav-_-Department-_-Womens&refined=leftnav

Plenty of jeans there, regular 31" and long 33".
However, doesn't look as if long length is available above a size 22. Sorry!

I think when it comes to sizing go by the measurements and not size 24 etc

Different designers have different sizing so one designers size 24 is a 28 elsewhere
