Large Plus Size Clothing

They have a really good selection of clearance boots for larger calves in Evans branch in Farnborough. Some leather, some man made but many of them are labelled with their stretchability factor making them suitable for larger calves. They seem to have a range of sizes in most styles but I have never seen so many nice boots in the store ranging from £25.

Hello all,
I follow a blog of a fuller figured, fuller busted lady who has designed dresses with lady V (clothing website). Has anyone bought any of the newer plus sized dresses and if so, what's the material/quality like? Some of the dresses feature a material called "Bengaline" - I don't know what that is or how it wears. Any comments, appreciated.

Bengaline is a stretchy polyester twill suiting type fabric, used a lot in trousers & skirts.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

TBH I've decided that I will buy a smaller number of good quality items at higher price than cheaper items which are simply not cut to flatter or poor quality.
I've bought recently from navabi, it's been mentioned once or twice on the thread. It's based in Germany but free postage and returns. I have returned items and it's not been a problem.
Most of their items are very expensive but in the sale you can get more reasonably priced items which you are not going to see on every plus size person walking down the high street. The sizing, fabric info and styling notes are very helpful.

Unless budget is really tight it's a website to keep an eye on in the sales IMO, you can also see items from a particular designer you like the look of and check to see of there are any used bargains on ebay. I do that a lot now days. I didn't realise there were so many plus size brands out there.0 -

I agree about buying quality. I buy a lot from Evans, just because I can't resist a bargain (when they do 25% off on their website + discount codes). However the quality overall is very poor, so not only clothes don't last long, but they are not enjoyable to wear, they look good until you have washed a couple of times, then they look old and tired.
I never buy clothes from supermarkets for the same reason, I don't get good value for money.
I buy a lot from Taking Shape, in the sales or discounted, and their stuff lasts longer.
Never bought from Navabi though, they are more expensive than what I like to pay, even on sales. Although some of their items are a bit cheaper, I don't like to look at a website where I can only afford a small number of products, but that's just me, I wouldn't pay more than £25 for a piece, and only if it's very good quality and lasting, up to that price it's value for money, in terms of how long I continue to enjoy wearing an item of clothing that makes me feel good.
Maybe if there were discount codes on top (couldn't find anything, only a 8% cashback) it would help0 -

I realise this is an old post but I thought I'd shove my oar inI like Lady Vintage and have a few of their 'Hepburn' dresses - I haven't tried any of the 'fuller figure' ones because I don't have a 'fuller bust' (sigh ...) and I'm not that comfortable with the reeeeally low necklines, but a lot of these dresses seem to be made of the same fabrics as the Hepburns and I'd definitely recommend them for quality. You do have to be careful as occasionally they make dresses in thinner fabrics which are less hardwearing, but generally the cotton is really thick, has a bit of stretch to it and washes and wears well. I would say that the sizing is pretty good but certainly the Hepburns are made for a more hourglass figure, and they can be quite small on the waist.
If you like more vintage style clothes then I can also recommend Lindy Bop. They do plus sizes although it can be a case of trial and error, particularly with the dresses as the styles vary so much. I'd say if you're short and dumpy (like me ...) then their separates might be a better option than the dresses, which always seem to me to be a bit long in the body.
Edited to add: Lady Vintage isn't cheap but they often do free postage and x% off offers. If you follow their Facebook page then they always advertise their offers there. Their sales aren't bad either, although the plus sizes always go quickly.0 -
Have you tried beaubou, where you can sell or buy used women's clothing. I think it's UK only, and you sell your clothes locally, meaning no postage, and the buyer comes to your house - like gumtree!0

I know its not for everyone but 'Matalan Clearance' Stores have a great selection of Plus sizes. Ive seen size 30+ when I have been in there. There is one in Sunderland (Tyne & Wear) and I'm sure there are a few more.0
