I'm hoping somebody can help me. I have a family wedding to go to next month and I can't find anything suitable to wear
I'm a 5' 3" apple shaped lady and don't look good or feel comfortable in dresses. I'm trying to find a coordinating top/skirt combo, which once upon a time was readily available. I'm also open to wearing smart trousers and top.
Does anyone have any idea where should I look as I'm about fed up of trawling through the usual catalogues and high st stores.
TIA,
M x0 -
Have you had a look at holy clothing? They do skirts and tops, as well as some trousers of various descriptions (never been impressed with the trousers though, a lot look weird to me) Skirts might be far too long however.
http://holyclothing.com/index.php/ you can always pick up a 10% voucher at the minimum on goggle search. never pay full price.
Taking shape has some nice skirts of sorts that are shorter than holy clothing so could match up. Depends what kind of thing are you looking for, plain, or fancy, mother of the bride esk, or something ok in photos, etc.0 -
Depends on your taste and probably age, but I was in the same position in August, looking for wedding clothes. Tried lots of online places and high street stores with no luck. I eventually and surprisngly found a lot of choice in Edinburgh Woollen Mill. All sorts of what I was looking for - skirts, tops, trousers to match, reasonably priced, plenty up to size 24 and the assistants were very helpful. Will definitely try them first in future.0

Never thought to say, I'm mid 40's and looking for something quite smart and dressy. However, that's easier said than done when you're short, large busted and have a waist the same size as your hips :rotfl:Have you had a look at holy clothing? Thank you for the link. There are some lovely clothes on there, but they're a little more casual than I want to wear on this occasion. I've saved the link though for future reference. I'll also have a look at Taking Shape.cathedralmouse wrote: »Depends on your taste and probably age, but I was in the same position in August, looking for wedding clothes. Thank you for the suggestion. I do like EWM and have shopped there before. My local store isn't stocking anything dressy at the moment, so I'll have a look online.
The problem that I seem to be encountering is that most Retailers are now geared towards the Christmas Party season - had I known about the wedding earlier, I'd have started looking much sooner!

have you looked at matalan, depending on whether you are ok with getting your arms out they have a couple of swing dresses in the rogers & rogers section

http://www.matalan.co.uk/womens/brands/rogers-and-rogers/s2579625/rogers-floral-print-belted-swing-dress
these are standard length, if you are under a 20 they also do some different designs in their petit section.
I brought a navy with white dots one in the summer for a wedding & it was very flattering I am an apple shape as well0 -

They are lovely, but unfortunately I don't go in at the waist at allIf I try to wear a dress with a belt, it ends up being Empire line
I'm not the most feminine of women to start with. I come from a family of tall, broad, muscular people - I only got broad and muscular :rotfl:

Lol, I am the same. Belts make me look wider unless they sit under my boobs rather than at my waist. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

Do people find the new AH the same quality as before? They are getting a real bashing on Facebook. Complaints about too much polyester and dark colours.
I have to say that although I used to buy 80% of my clothes from them I've now moved on and the name Bonmarche doesn't inspire confidence in the brand I have to say.0
