Thanks both of you x Jack I quite like the first choice, it doesn't look aqua in the picture, more grey, but it also has a nice shrug they offer on same page, so worth try. The royal blue is quite nice, but plain fabrics I feel show my bumps more. bright colours do suit me.
Night ryder, thanks but the just below knee would look horrible on me so that's 1 and 4 out unfortunately, I really do have massive treetrunk legs, attractive eh!
The 2nd one I'd never have chosen, but I quite like it. The plain black is ok, good it covers arms a bit, black isn't my best colour altho slimming of course.
I was going to try things on, but the Ann Harvey one is on offer, may order it online and try it.
Usually dresses that are thinnish material look horrible, as I have very big lumpy hips/thighs. Thats why I always go for trousers and maybe a silky jacket.
I'm out in the sticks, but could go and have a try on next weekend.Any more ideas welcome, thanks x0 -
Can you use a pair of spanx or similar, something that smooths over lumps and bumps, i use one when i wear a dress, they are the best, you can really see the difference, i'm sure i'm not the only one that uses them.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

I have got some, but find they roll up after a while, will just have to keep tugging them down!
http://www.chescadirect.co.uk/products/1108 whay do you think about this type of jacket with cami and evening trousers? I WILL try some dresses, but thinking of other options too. Honest opinions please.0 -
If I am honest - I am not keen on that one - looks quite frumpy to me (sorry - hope i haven't offended you).
How about this:

I tend to find this too but bought ones from H&M that are shorts that go from under the bust to the knee and they are amazing. It means there is no thigh chaffing, it takes inches off me and is really comfortable. It is defintely not the most attractive underwear in my drawer but a total miracle worker

I'm not a big fan of that jacket either. No offence intended, but I think it's too 'busy'.
That per una dress is gorgeous! I think if you've not worn a dress in ages & feel very self conscious, then go for something full length/maxi style. I'm sure you'll find something you'll be happy with.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi Jack no not offended at all, I really want total honesty, thanks
I tend to go for prints/patterns thinking it disguises my shape, and I want to be more fashionable and not too frumpy, so will take your advice.
I really like the velvet M & S one, lovely colour and as its thicker material may be more flattering. Also will go in my "spanx" so I get the best look I can. I guess loads more winter stuff will be coming in shops soon.
I've tried floaty before and wasn't happy with the look on me, I know Gok always makes everyone wear the right undergarments before trying clothes, so I will have to too, and that may help.
Thanks Ali about the shorts, they look good but will I get in top size 18/20? If not could find similar.
Re the palazzo pants and floaty top, I find I look better in slightly tailored jackets, if in a soft evening type material.
What about this http://www.qvcuk.com/ukdetail/ViewOptions.aspx?viewOption=colors&item=150388&country=UK&colorCode=nny with sparkly cami and palazzo trousers? Might get too hot.
You've given me lots to think about thanks - I will report back when I've had a try on. Any more ideas welcome in meantime. Thanks for all your help x

I haven't had time to read all the replies, sorry if I'm repeating something that has already been said...
just wanted to say that if you find a sleeveless dress you like, you can wear it with arm covering like wingz http://www.wingzfashion.com/
or Mary Portas (who I think got the idea from wingz, incidentally, after they were on dragons den..) http://www.mytights.com/gb/findit/mary-portas-armery.html0 -

I sometimes wear the size down 14/16 and I wear an 18/20 usually. They don't cut off the circulation and I barely notice that I am wearing them so it should be ok if you want to be smoothed and made more slimline. They totally stop the wobbles and I can eat and do everything I would normally do whereas I have tried some over the years where they were so constrictive that it was uncomfy to do anything in them.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
