I ordered the comfort shorts from Evans and they arrived today. Love these, great stretch in them. I also ordered a pair of straight leg turquoise jeans as well which are lovely as well. This thread is great, I've found some great sources of clothes I would never have thought of. I love clothes, handbags and shoes and its great to see companies out there are waking up to the fact we all want nice clothes.
  • I've ordered a pair of 'PEAR' jeans for Evans yesterday should have them tomorrow. Apparently meant to be perfect for for a pear shape, more leg/hip room, but less room/no gap around the back/waist!

Part of the Furniture Photogenic Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I am a size 18, with (big) boobs and a (big) belly :(
Outside of my work uniform, I live in Adidas yoga pants and tee shirts as I have kinda given up on finding clothes to fit me that I like.
Am early 40's and only 5' 2 so find it really difficult.
I am beginning to despair cos I look like a bag lady most of the time :o
Limited budget like most people these days, so refuse to pay full price for things.
Is there any hope of me looking like a woman do you think? :rotfl::rotfl:

    Don't give up Sharalee. ;)

Don't think about what you're going to have to buy and how much it's going to cost yet.

First, work out what your body shape is, and what your good points are. For example if you go in at the waist it's usually a good idea to show that off. If you have good legs then don't hide 'em cherub!

There are loads of websites for working out what shape you are. Often you can punch in your measurements and it will tell you. A lot of places that sell clothes have one and show outfit ideas too. (Evans, Simply Be) so you can start thinking, "Hmm I quite like that"

This site might be a good place to start:

    http://www.channel4.com/4beauty/style/dress-for-your-body-shape

Maybe you need to look at underwear? A good bra and some pull-you-in pants can make all the difference to feeling as if you have a womanly shape.

I've found when feeling a bit drab - and poor - that fairly inexpensive things like tidying up my eyebrows, doing a deep conditioning treatment, or wearing lip gloss make me feel better about myself. With a bit more of a spring in my step and a wiggle in my walk I feel more positive about whatever the next step is going to be.

Lots of us are bigger than you my lovely ( or older) and I for one don't plan on giving up yet! :D

    Walked into Evans today.

Walked straight back out again. With a migraine.

Oh my, that stuff is repulsive.

Is there no hope for me?

[retreats to safety of jeans and T shirts]

I know how you feel honey.

Oh my goodness I know how you feel! :D

But the days when Evans was the only place to shop for those of us who are a 16+ are long gone.

And - online at Evans is less horrific because you don't have to look at a sea of patterned polyester all at once, plus they have stuff on there that never makes it to the stores. (and some of it isn't hideous! ;))

I like Simply Be because they have a lot of choice and cater to a variety of personal styles, but I also get things from Next and ASOS Curve quite a lot.

And there are many more options.

Maybe your first step might be to buy a non T shirty-y top you love to wear with your jeans? Or at least try a few things on.

If it helps I've had to buy jeans and T shirts for the first time recently. I had no idea how to dress casually. (It's still a bit weird!)

We all have our issues, no matter what age, size, or shape we are.

Ellos has/had some nice stuff, and constant codes/offers available. It is part of La Redoute, so if you have credit account with them, you can use it with ellos. I pay debit card though.
Now. Prepare to wait for the delivery. They are shocking on stock predictions/telling the truth about stock online. They bring in over seas, then dispatch from the UK. You can't get expedited delivery due to it coming from France (iirc) then being distributed to you, in the UK.
They won't tell you they've shipped.
They won't tell you it's actually not in stock.
Understanding their "codes" on your order status online account is awkward, seeing as they don't seem to like to tell you any item is out of stock.

Out of four orders, all four have been problematic.
1st one, delayed due to stock (despite being told on the phone, we have plenty!)
Second one I actually !!!!!ed about on their facebook as again no word at all. That basically was phone CS employee telling me blind it had been signed and delivered for (even though the only delivery I had that week was Daxon) Oh yeah, now that I spent 10 mins telling you it was delivered, you're right, that was the Daxon delivery. Sorry, should be there in a few days; In truth, after I emailed someone from facebook, it was one item outta stock, france delivery, uk delivery = almost 4 weeks wait from order.
3rd, bah too them so long to process it 9days+ , my card changed, and payment got refused. Again outta stock; waiting etc. Then card declined, order cancelled.
I reordered the lot again 4th time, and after usual wait of stock being gathered, deliveries etc, one size was wrong. Gave up. Have given up.

Ironically. I did manage to get the current stuff I wanted, but it was just a pain in the backside overall. This isn't just me it has happened to either. I've recommended to other people (before all the hassle really) and they've had similar problems. I liked the stuff, but it's not easy to get, or fast, and they lie/ignore/decide they don't want customers to know.

BUT if you can order it and just not care about the potential wait, getting some good bargains it's ok. They do do good bargains, and along side constantly changing codes. Some are even 50% off sale inc, others just full priced stuff.

...I'm just glad every time I've tried ordering I've not been able to (stuff no longer in stock , discount codes/sales prices reverting to full price when I went to pay). The only time I did actually manage to get through an order they lost it, as it had never happened.
Sounds like getting the order through at the right price is only the first hurdle...

I understand that it's a French company trading in the UK, but their "partners" Daxon, which is whom told me about Ellos also delivers from overseas I believe, yet they seem to actually be able to work, you order, it arrives pretty quickly. You can trust their stock levels reasonably well. Although their sizing is well mucked up, never happened to me, but my mum struggled to get something in the right size (packaging mixed up, or actual clothes several sizes smaller, and marked wrongly)
Same with La redoute. Last time I used them, last year, it was easy, it worked.
But for some reason Ellos doesn't. It's a frustrating site to use, and it's almost pot luck as to whether something that is stock (plenty!) will sell out with in 10 mins of you ordering them, maybe. And their lack of Customer contact is terrible. ie Automated emails upon fulfilled, dispatched, delayed etc. Non-existant.

If you put up with it (and the stuff I bought I really did want, couldn't get it elsewhere either) and wait. it usually does work out. Then if you pick the codes you get constantly, for a good order, you can generally get really good deals. But I've come to the conclusion after problems with all orders that I'm not going to do it any more. For that one thing I Really would quite like, it's not worth the hassle. Same as Buses, another one will always comes along after.

Forgot to say it was actually La Redoute I had ordered from, same company that runs the Ellos site.
(incidentally, I have ordered quite a few times directly from France from another company, Kiabi, and they have been the best online company I've ever dealt with, never made a mistake, sizing all spot on and consistent, never found faults.)
