Just spotted this thread, great info.

IMO it's all about fit. It does not matter what size you are, if you are wearing ill fitting clothes you'll not feel as good as when you are wearing something that you know you look great in.

Hello MM, welcome and thank you for the information!

With about 1700 posts I think there is very little that hasn't been mentioned, but it's always good to have fresh feedback, as things change quickly. We normally talk more about online shopping, but sometimes is good to get your axx somewhere and do 'proper' shopping (it's been years since I've shopped for clothing in a shop... ;)).

If you get the chance pop in,

you'll get a free tea or coffee too :money:

You are right, everyone likes different things and also most of us have to wear different things depending on the situation. Whilst I like nothing better than to dress in a baggy top and leggings it's not going to cut it at work or if I am going to a formal function like a Wedding.

That's why I liked this thread so much, there is something for everyone from cheap and cheerful to designer and casual to formal.

Back to lone of the points you were making,

I think lagenlook is worn by a range of ages, done well it looks very fashionable and stylish IMO. It's not the easiest look to pull off though as get it wrong and you can look like you are in full sail which applies to a lot of poorly cut plus size fashion!

The days of having to look like a tent on legs are long over thankfully!

I understand why so many, but particularly plus sized ladies are now reluctant to enter into shops. Even assuming you can find a shop that has something in your size in the first place you then have to contend with staff who are not always able to offer honest advice and have such a limited range of stock you feel like you're going to be seeing every other size XYZ in the same outfit or end up looking like your granny.

I do a mixture of both online and retail but my most enjoyable and successful buying experiences have been at independants or small chains that specialize in plus size fashion, it's just a matter of finding the right shops. I really used to hate clothes shopping but not now.:)

I think the literal meaning is layering, generally unstructured items which makes the cut really important. Angel Circle do a lot of clothes in that style, it's not really my scene so to speak but like you said we all have our own preferences!

    Edit

Some lovely items on that Butterfly website!

A few years ago (5-10yrs) all plus women, any age, were wearing Evans, choice was so limited. That's why I stopped going there and went to at Ann Harvey, at least there were fewer people wearing the same stuff, although it was still a chain. At the time they had some really nice stuff, lovely vibrant colours, but not anymore.

Now Evans is all brands, very frilly tunics posing as dresses (no, 90cm is NOT a dress) sold at extortionate prices, very poor quality and all manmade fabrics (except that sales + codes + cashback are great value!). An their everyday t shirts are so [STRIKE]low[/STRIKE] short now, skimping on material?

I like Evans but they're very hit and miss - however I got a tracksuit in there just before I went into hospital which has been absolutely invaluable to me, the bottoms are yoga pants rather than traditional tracksuit bottoms and they are the first ones I've found that dont have a massive thick waistband (no good to me at the moment given my op site wound) they are thin material and loose - I wore them constantly in hospital. They werent cheap but worth every penny.

My wardrobe is a mixture of catalogue stuff, sports stuff, Yours, Evans, New Look, increasing amounts of M&S (I blame their sales :rotfl:) Matalan and the rest is bits of Next, H&M, BHS and Primark (I'm a 20-22 on the top and 22-24 on the bottom)
However I couldnt be without New Look. I love their Inspire range :)
