Poorly promoted, I've never seen any in my local either.
That was basically the comment that I made on their facebook comment page, that its poorly promoted and in very few stores, I asked how many stores it is in and they didn't reply. I think with promotion & in more stores like tesco have done with their true range, it could sell well as the prices if I remember correctly were reasonable & the quality was good.0 -
well, i would have bought it if i had seen it. ours is a large store now so would have expected them to stock it
i wear lots of next since they do plus sizes. it was on this thread that i found out about them doing bigger sizes, but i had no idea until i read this, if sainsburys had promoted this range i would have been aware and then bought. ridiculous, unless they set it up to fail.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -

Like you I never heard of it, and I'm quite on the ball on these things.
You are right about set up to fail.
M&S did a similar things, they had a plus range, that was either at the back of the store, right next to the 'granny's' range, basically go through all the nice stuff, per una etc, when you see the ugly stuff there it is... it was awful shopping this way.
Then later they decided to put it together with the other sizes, so again go through all the skirts before you found one in size 26 (the ugliest one of course...).
In my opinion it comes partly from the company thinking it doesn't look glam in the shops, and looks bad for their image if 'skinny' people realise that fat people can wear the same clothes.0 -
Totally agree with the last two comments. Plus size is always hidden in the back. They may as well put it behind a beaded curtain with a red light, like the adult video section.
I was so happy when I found out that Next did plus size but I haven't really worn the few things I got from them. I just don't really like the plus size clothes in the UK. I didn't know sainsburys had a plus range either and I have been shopping in their stores for years! I can sometimes manage to comfortably wear some of their 22 or 24s and they are better quality than Tesco for sure, but why are all the supermarkets' plus clothing so poorly made? The fabric always seems so thin and flimsy.
The one thing that really frustrates me is the length of the shirts. I can never seem to fin shirts that will cover the bum or hip area. I thought Curvissa was good quality, but the shirts I ordered a few weeks ago have not washed very well and they feel a bit tent like now. I wasnt impressed with the customer service either. Oh well, onwards and upwards....:o0 -

I'm surprised to hear your comment about plus size clothes in the UK, I thought here we had wider choice than most countries (except possibly the US).
The whole world seems to talk about (and by from) brands like Evans and Yours.
Do you find that there are other countries that offer more choice? I'd love to have a look, google translation here I come...
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Curvissa, it's really hard to find good quality clothes, even Ann Harvey's stuff is not always great, although normally better than most.
Yours vary from great value for money, to very poorly made (films fabric, badly cut etc).
Never bough anything from Curvissa yet, but I thought as they come from the same company as Freeman would have been more reliable.0 -
Just reading about the Sainsbury's Grace range - I've got some yoga trousers from that range I bought at Leicester Fosse Park branch and they're fab.
I've had them for a little while now and they seem to have washed well etc. But I didnt even know they did a plus size range either, I stumbled across it by accident.

I am getting married in about a months time, and desperatly searching for a dress.
Will be getting married in a register office, so don't need anything fancy, but needs to be smart and pratical, because will be going on a train after without getting changed.
I'm a size 18-20 though hoping to lose about 7 pounds before the date just so the dress will fit better.
Also on a budget so only looking to spend 40 pounds max.0 -

Hi terra
I was thinking about the US, yes. Sorry, I should have made that more clear. I bought three pairs of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans there in 2008 for $30 Each (appx £16-£19) and they are still the only ones I wear. Unfortunately, i shrunk one
pair! But they actually have denim in them unlike the poly/cotton nightmare
jeans I wore for the first time the other day from Evans. It seems that UK plus size tries to accomodate every body type with one standard cut, ie: t-shirts have short , but wide sleeves that dont cover the upper arm so that anyone regardless of arm size can wear it or jeans are made os stretchy material all over so that they will fit everyone but still feel like clingey leggings.
Maybe it is just me! I just cant seem to find anything quality to wear and it makes me feel down about myself.
Has anyone tried forever21?0 -
Just found this list from a blog: http://thecurvyfashionista.mariedenee.com/plus-size-fashion-resources/curvy-designers/
Some American stores listed on there, like Lane Bryant are great and Old Navy is a favourite.
There are some bridal shops listed at the bottom too, but if you read back a few posts, JustMe, there was a discussion about bridal wear. I got my bridal outfit from the plus sizd section in Harrods (!) i just got a nice top and a satin skirt that i really loved and felt like myself in, because I got married in a registry office too! Some people are able to find gowns in Oxfam, etc. And have them adapted.0 -

TBH I'm not familiar with US shops, I was put off when I purchased something a year ago I got stung with a huge custom bill.... but maybe it's worth having a look again0
