Did someone say brown onion soup? :D

My cake has finally cooled down (came out of the oven at 14.50!) and I've fed it with southern comfort and it's snuggled up in greaseproof paper and in a Roses tin in the larder. It smells lovely, hope it tastes OK. By the time I've finished feeding it I won't care what it tastes like ;)

    OOh Happy Birthday Sarah!

as you might have guessed I have really been busy - went to tmy sister's in Northampton yesterday and decluttered like a demon - unworn clothees (here for me!) stuff for neice to carboot (talk about ruthless) unwanted xmas gifts 'rehomed' and I now have a 'new' pine table!. Wasteful really - boxes of chocolates (uneaten and WAY past their sell by date) *fling* last time I went I brough away a tin of shortbread *fling* OOD too (kept the tin though ;))
and DO NOT lecture me on sell by dates but when the chocs have sunk they are clearly not particularly edible - BB 06/2006!

My friend now has a wedding dress suitable, elegant, classic and I cannot say more but it looks beautiful and I will SLAP any wedding guest who says otherwise!

And I am to have a social life in October

and I have yet to arrange my birthday night out and my friend has been instructed to seat me next to an unattached man and another friend has found me a fella to whom I am to be introduced!

Question:- I pay about £30 for a haircut and blow dry, but feel I am being ripped off, so what as an average do you all pay..... thank you
I pay £31 for mine but she is so good that it's well worth it. I come out of the hairdressers feeling a million dollars and it looks good for weeks after. The only downside is that I can't afford to go as often as I should, I should go every six weeks really.

Grateful, that is terrible about the out of hours doctor. Sorry to hear about your kids being ill too. My sister was telling me about an elderly couple who called the out of hours doc, and he had to come from Croydon, which is about half an hour’s drive, and because he had drugs in the car with him he had to have a minder!!

    Hello Valli

Rach, nice purse! I’m really trying to resist going in to the new Cath Kidston shop that’s opened in Guildford, it’s been there all summer and I can feel my willpower fading! I’m really glad your consultation went so well. That’s good news!

Greenbee, hope you are feeling better soon

Hello everyone :D Lovely day here today so 2 loads of washing done and dried on the line. I've been to dad's to take the compost and get some newly laid eggs from his friend's chickens. Then went to town, had lunch with mum and bought a few bits and bobs. Did some flying in various rooms, read 4 days worth of papers, caught up on some paperwork (and had a little nap on the sofa!!)

SS - Happy Birthday! Hope you've had a great day x

AnW - well done to Miss A

Lo-Lo, jackiewhizz and greenbee - hugs

Penpen - congrats on the fundraising

Looks like a few of us will be meeting up in London on Saturday 24th - all welcome, so let me know if you want to come :D

Just popping on to say a quick good evening, have a had lovely day today.
Had a lie in while DH (just back from 7 days in the US) took DS to football and the 2 girls played in the little one's room.
Then at 12 my friend (also my hairdresser) arrived to cut my hair, I had about 6 inches chopped off and I love it!! I will try and post some pictures tomorrow so you can see the before and after.
We then went out to buy a new telly for the playroom (a complete extravagance if you ask me but DH wanted to do it) and went to Pizza Hut for tea.
Home for kids bedtime (DH did it) and I had a lovely bath.
    now watching some telly.

Hope everyone had a lvoely Saturday

    Good evening all,

I finally made a start on DS1's room - didn't feel up to much until tea time. In the afternoon, DS2 and I went try out a local farm shop and bought the ingredients for tomorrow's dinner: meat, veg, potatoes, yorkshire puds and apple crumble. I'm rubbish at making yorkshire puds and usually have other things in the oven, so can't have it hot enough. The meat is brisket from their own cows and will go in the slow cooker in the morning. We don't eat early on Sundays.

I thought I'd post an update of how far I've got with my list. If this was a normal week and we didn't have a visitor due to stay, I'd have said I've done really well. If I keep plodding on at this pace, the house will be looking so much better by Christmas.

My previously quite tidy bedroom is about to become another ROD, though - all my stuff from DS1's room is going to be carried downstairs, and there's serious decluttering to be done. It will take me ages to get it back up to scratch.

MUST DOS BEFORE SUNDAY LUNCH TIME
    (bits in red are done)
    1. clean the main bits of the bathroom, incl the floor
    2. declutter and mop the kitchen floor
    3. declutter a chair in the livingroomand wipe the fire place
    4. tidy the dining room to the point where we can use it
    5. clear my stuff out of DS1's room (it used to be our bedroom) and ideally finish painting the walls
    6. declutter the floorand desk in DS2's room
    7. dig out the home insurance documents and claim for the stuff in the freezer, if possiblenot worth it, due to high excess
    8. get the freezer repaired (fingers crossed) – had to cancel repair man due to doctor’s appointments today, will phone on Monday and see when they can fit us in
    9. write a list for DH to work through on his day off (Thursday) – he took DS2 out twice, so I’ll settle for that today. Most of the jobs that are left are not straightforward, anyway.
    10. put clean and dry washing away
    11. wipe freezer inside and out
    12. clean walls, skirting and floor behind freezer
    13. buy books for work (must be done on Wednesday)
Pie in the sky: paint main wall in kitchen
Monday Madness ~ Living room, Hall and Stairs
    Level One
    Done
also wiped handrail and cleared shoes away
Tooooooooooooosday ~ Kitchen and Dining room!
    Level One
    Done
also put leaflets in 200ish papers for DS1, unloaded and reloaded DW, started WM, emptied all bins, replaced bin liners (old plastic bags) and washed bathroom bin
Wednesday ~ Master bedroom and landing
Not urgent (visitor won’t come in here). Will focus on my own list and catch up at the weekend. The landing is done, as it’s only a tiny square at the top of the stairs. Put bin out, made breakfasts and one packed lunch, WM x 1 out to dry, made lunch, 2nd lot washing out, made snack for DS1,

Thursdeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ~ Bathroom, loo and study!
    Level One
    Declutter floors - DONE
scrubify the tiles – done the ones above the sink
    Level Two
Clean the bath, loo, shower etc... - DONE
Defrag comp while you vacuum/mop – swept and mopped bathroom
    Level Three
Wash shower curtains/bathmats etc – wiped shower screen and put bathmat in towel wash
    Friday ~ The Chicken Song...
    Level One
Clear the floor in ROOMS OF DOOM – made a good start in DS’ rooms
Change DS1’s bedding before the exchange student comes to stay – Sunday morning
Evict some spiders – only if they’re silly enough to let me see them only dead ones so far (they know me too well, obviously)
    Level Two
    De-grot DS2’s desk - DONE
HHC - lots of these in the ROOMS OF DOOM – lots of these
    Level Three
    have a bath - DONE
S&S the kitchen and bathroom - DONE
Vacuum high traffic areas – Sunday morning

I hope you all enjoyed your Saturday. All the talk about haircuts has reminded me that mine desperately needs doing, but I first need to find a new hairdresser. I'm not used to spending much on this and I hate trying out new places.

    Good night all.

    Evening

cant believe where the days has gone!

By the time I'd waited for DD to be collected to go to a friends and got into town with OH it was lunchtime. I only wanted a piece of ticking to make a new bolster cover as when I took the slipcover off this morning it had split and so there were feathers everywhere . OH decided that it was time to chuck it and get new pillows so who am I to argue (saves me a sewing job :D)

Then went and bought my new dining chairs so at least now my old farmhouse table can look like one instead of being covered up all the time as it didnt match the old chairs.

Then I got petrol (I hate buying petrol as I cant see anything for it ), did a small food shop and collected DD from friends. Tea was cooked and eaten and then it was 2 hours of X factor. DH then helped me turn the mattress (once I'd hoovered the feathers) and I've remade the bed.

That is the extent of the flying today and tommorow I have work at 2.30 for 4 hours

Oh forgot I did 2 loads of washing, 1 of which I managed to get line dry but it was out all day.

Kazwookie - I go every 4 weeks, I have a cut one month and usually half head of highlights the next and pay £23 and £26. I'm like Helen though and wont pay for a blowdry as I usually go home and stick my head in the sink anyway. I also have the salon owner so all the other stylists are cheaper.
Sorry, I've forgotten, which Kaz wanted me to pm her about my job, and how I got into that kind of work... wookie, or meister???

    It was me SarahS

Rach - glad the appt went well.

Boddy - sounds like you had a lovely day

Hope everyone else is doing ok, hugs to Mudders DS, Toots and LadyLib.

I'm off to snuggle up in my freshly made bed before DH gets there. Think I will do a bit of meal planning while I'm there. Oops no I wont as we havent cleared away the tea things yet, bogger. I know he wont have done them He'll be sat n his laptop watching something cheeky so and so.

See you all at some point tomorrow

    Kaz x
