Rach - that's top news about the hospital appointment.

It seems quite strange making dinner just for me on a Saturday night (DD does her own cooking) and the realisation that this is how it is going to be from now on - except for Sundays because DS has said he's coming home for Sunday roast. It means I can really rethink my menus and my weekly shop.

I was quite restricted because DS has a definite list of likes and dislikes and DiL had her own likes and dislikes but now it doesn't matter!

ETA Crafty - the final waving off ain't happened yet. There's still a lot of clobber here to shift. But I did get everything of theirs out of the cupboard under the stairs and took it over there today! DiL is working tomorrow, but I think if I crack the whip with DS, we can get most of the stuff over there tomorrow. Their occasional clothes (e.g. suits etc.) will have to stay here a bit until their wardrobes get delivere.d

Kaz - I go to Micks in the Agora - £13 for a cut, I go on a Sunday morning. I love the cut I get but the price isn't for a blow dry, thats extra but as my hair is very short it doesn't justify the extra price.

Well I have thoroughly cleaned and de-cluttered the kitchen - it's looking good!! Not sure how long it will stay that way as my cats are in there at night and they make a mess (cat hair, paw prints, mud etc etc) lol
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

soappie -thanks. I am sure it will feel very weird for a while, being on your own. Meal wise, I sometimes miss my mad single dinners! I used to regularly chuck a load of veg in a pan with some tinned tomatoes and maybe quorn or beans. I thought it was gorgeous but not DH's idea of a nice dinner!

It's good, I think, that I'm not totally alone in the house, DD will be living here for a while. But I know what you mean about single dinners. When I've worked away in self catering accommodation I've done thinks like buy a small gammon, boil or bake it one day, hot for dinner, then cold for sandwiches and a salad etc. One thing neither DS nor DiL would eat was ham though DS would eat bacon.

I can even make a quiche again and have it hot one day, cold the next. It always seemed to silly to cook completely separate dinners. I was looking at my glut of onions this evening and thinking oooh - brown onion soup with crusty bread and cheese on the top! :D
