Very wise advice!
I have a Siemens, which I've just realised is now over 10 years old (my fridge & freezer are siemens bought at the same time, the DW is the same but bought last year). I've never had a problem with it, so I'm now worried that it might be nearing the end of it's life!
I'm going to try to make the effort to go out, then come back, have a hot bath and an early night! I've just finished one piece of work, so feel justified in taking Monday as my time in lieu rather than today (I did 4 hours on the plane as well as what I've done this afternoon)0 -
Evening everyone. Got cracking once the workmen left. Have washed the paintwork down in the kitchen and little passage. Cleaned the dust off the cooker and done a load of washing. Benches done and sink cleaned. Just need electrician to come and finish off. Music is blasting from next door tonight. I thought the peace was too good to be true.0

Evening everyone. Just popping in to confess I have done no flying today and don't intend to do any this evening either! I am going to finish crocheting my friend's scarf tonight and get an early night as I am shattered. Tomorrow I have to go to the fabric shop
to get some material for the top I am going to make in my dressmaking class. Oh, the hardship. :rotfl: I'm going to see if I can get some hardwearing cotton stuff as well, to make a throw for the sofa so that the dogs don't dirty it. You should have seen the dirt that came out of the sofa covers when I washed them earlier this week !
I will have to 'block' the squares that make up the scarf so I might just do some ironing whilst I'm at it .... depends how I feel.....
Mudbath, I hope your son gets better soon.
Pigpen, have a good weekend.
Toots, hope you are feeling better.
Penpenguin, happy birthday!
Apologies if I've missed anybody out - the thread moves so quickly I can't always keep up with it.
Well done to those who've got five stars this week. One day it WILL be me!:rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Good evening all,
I had yet another nap on the sofa this pm with DS2 and woke from that feeling much betterMiss Higgerty - I think you mentioned making soup with Chorizo sausage the other day (in the SC?). Would you mind sharing the recipe? I only just bought a large SC and I'm fishing for ideas. Unfortunately we all have different tastes. I'm not big on meat, whereas DH dislikes most veg (I'd have to blend the soup) and DS1 hates onions, mushrooms, peppers and green beans. They're a challenge...
.
I'm not sure they'll like it, but I do this (for three of us, for a hearty lunch)...
1 200g chorizo sausage hoop, sliced (or bits of ready chopped chorizo in a pack)
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, diced
(red pepper, if I have it)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Sprinkle of smoked paprika and chili flakes (to your taste)
2 tblsp plain flour
1.5pt chicken stock
1 bay leaf
1 tin butter beans, drained
(salt and) freshly ground black pepper (it can be salty already)
cream if you have it for garnishing
Method:
Fry the chorizo until oil runs.
Saute the onions, carrots (pepper) and garlic over low heat for about 10 minutes or until soft but not browned (in the same pan as the chorizo)
Sprinkle paprika, chilli flakes & flour on top and saute for 1 minute.
Add the stock and bay leaf, bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
Add the beans and simmer for another 20-30 minutes. Mash roughly with a potato masher. We like bits... Or you could whizz roughly with one of those stick blenders.
I normally let it go cool at this point, because it thickens and matures.
When ready to serve, heat and season to taste with (salt and) freshly ground black pepper and garnish with cream, ( and chives or parsley if you have it). Lots of crusty bread. You can throw a splosh of sherry in it too...

Hi
Off topic for a mo (sorry!)......
Lady L and everyone else who went to the Killers Royal Albert Hall gig in july - this is for you. Its a promo for the DVD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIZV3sHrdz8
I hope the link works lol as its absolutely beautiful ***swoon***
Ooh thanks for the link, it looks fab. Can't wait for my pre-ordered copy to arrive nowCos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
on the washing machine front I have a miele - not had anyone out to it in 5+ years - and I do a lot of washing.
When it was delivered the delivery men commented on how light it was compared toi the hotpoint they removed - there is apparently less in a Miele to go wrong!
On a lighter note got back at about 3pm to find neighbour locked out of his house - he soes this regularly - I hold a spare key for him. However this time he'd locked him and the missis out - they'd tried to unlatch the front door....but in doing so had clicked on something which meant that the door wouldn't open - even with the key!
So I offered phone book....then uses of phone (both their mobiles were inside the house) to call a locksmith....and lastly some electricity as the bloke had to drill out the lock on their back door!
I don't think they found it funny.....but I think they were glad it was Friday!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Evening All
On the flying front I have managed to get well more than a half hour to myself this morning and now I have the house to myself again as DD & DS2 are a storykeepers and DS1 & OH are disco-ing, I on the other had am doing heeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaw tonight bar reading and cross stitching and computer:rotfl:
On the washing maching front I have a Becco/Bekko??? eco care. I have had it 4 years and until recently never had any problems with it. Its never been fixed but when I had the repair boy out he said I was either underloading (it doesn't do a half load) or over loading which means due to the eco nature of the machine it won't run so I'm back to normal with it I just don't try to sling millions in at a timeI probably won't get much done for the next hour and a half as I am watching the Iraq programme on BBC1, I am very proud to be a member of the Armed Forces
Well done you, and you should be proud. I'm happy to say that my SS is back home on British soil after his tour of Afganastan he'll be home here Thursday. It's funny I feel happy at him being home but sad knowing that some of the families of the boys & girls who left with him aren't in our position.everyone. If I don't get near my computer this weekend I'll catch up with you all on the new thread.
I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -

Evening all
Busy, busy day - the two hour meeting this morning ended up being 5 hours ~sigh~ then I drove across town in rush hour to sort locks out for DS and Dil. I am pooped and in a rush and haven't read the thread properly but I did pick up these points.
Dusty - the cookie poem - that was quite profound!
Rach - glad the hospital was positive hun xx
JillD - re the washing machine - I'd cut your losses...but I'd never recommend
carol22 - hope you feel better soon
Piggers - enjoy your weekend away
Thankyou for the floorboard compliments Greenbee and Jinky - NN came in tonight for gin and gossip and said "I didn't think you'd get them done this well". I take that as a seal of approval.
Greenbee - big hugs on your nightmare journey at least you're home, safe now. Your satnav story reminds me of the time NN and I holidayed in Worcestershire. We wanted to go somewhere, had no maps but the satnav kept trying to take us down a road that was well and truly closed. Every diversion we took, it took us back to it. Moral of the story - it's like the air traffic control system - by all means use satnav, but do have your manual back up to hand just in case..
I am now doing dinner whilst DS swaps internet equipment over  I may be back shortly, but I may be some time....I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
