Hi - what a great thread! ( recommended by Soolin from the Ebay forum ) I have several charity shops around me ( must be a deprived area ! ) and one of them sells all mens shirts and t shirts for 50p and jeans/trousers 150p ( pound sign does not work on this kboard - just comes up # )

which is good - but what names should I be looking out for to try and resell at Ebay - any lists about ?

    thanks in advance

It's very hit and miss, really. You have to know your target audience and also be aware of fakes and counterfeit brands. You can always do a search on eBay for "completed listings" to get a rough idea of demand.

    The obvious big sellers are:
Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, YSL, Dior, Moschino, Thomas Pink, Boss and Paul Smith but be aware that all these labels are copied in the Far East and you need to be absolutely certain they are genuine before you even consider listing them. There's restrictions on how many designer labels you can list at one time.

Levi's jeans are usually good sellers as are surf brands like Quiksilver, Animal, Stussy and Billabong but again, they are often faked.

I sell what I know, which is mainly vintage.
  • A quick list off the top of my head, designer and highstreet -

    Diesel
    Chanel
    Gucci
    Carvella
    Kurt Geiger
    Ted Baker
    Burberry
    Full Circle
    Russell & Bromley
    Topshop
    River Island
    ASOS
    Next

As Goanmad has said, there are loads of designer fakes and some are extremely convincing - check for serial numbers etc. I was lucky enough to pick up a genuine Gucci bag in the dust bag with serial number and authenticity cards for 50p in a charity shop, so they are out there..hiding amongst the replicas!

Also try searching specific catagories on the 'time ending soonest' option to see what items are reaching high numbers of bids.

Quite often I see Next and River Island stuff in CSs, but the price doesn't make it worth reselling on ebay.

I did spot a Pierre Cardin suit for £6.95 yesterday tho, that was a bargain for my mate who it fitted perfectly!

  • I live in quite a big city connected with lots of smaller towns so the CS are quite reasonable in their pricing as there are so many of them. I just wish we had more jumble sales here, they are very hard to find, if I can find any at all !

Don't hate me! There's loads of jumble sales held around the West Midlands and always have been. Every week from september onwards there's loads to choose from, daytime events, thursday and friday evenings and all day on a saturday. The only problem is deciding which ones to attend!
I've got two earmarked for tomorrow.
I think jumble sales must be a part of our Black Country tradition. We are by nature very thrify folk, there's also a market in nearly every town and literally hundreds of charity shops.

Got my fix today - a stunning fake Astrakan coat with a Mongolian lamb collar. Kate Moss would die for it. A snip at £9.95

Loving the coat goanmad ! I love reading your blog :D

I had to rush around earlier as we've swapped round weeks for Girlguides tonight (was going on a town trail but weather is not good so we're preparing Xmas things for our craft fair instead). Hence, I had to go shopping for all the craft things today instead of next week.

I did have a peeky in a CS while I was out and about in the next town and was astounded by the prices . It's a 'branch' I've not visited before and I probably won't be venturing in one of them again ...... I could have brought new for the prices they wanted :eek::eek:. The stuff wasn't all that good either so I've learned a valuable lesson today :D.

Weather not looking good for the Saturday car boot so I'll not get there yet again this weekend. There is a craft fair in the next village so I might pop along to that - no jumble sales that I know of, I even bought the local paper this week to check :p.

Right off to organise tonight ....... have fun this weekend and don't spend too much ! lol xxx

Definately not Car Booting weather. The craft fair sounds a good option, jtb2412!
Hope to hear of some bargains over the weekend! xx

I love your new leggings goanmad - now thats talented! You keep reminding me I need to learn to sew again.
I too have a shoe/boot addiction with well over 80 pairs. Those Samba ones are divine. I've wanted them since I saw them in a magazine ages ago but just couldn't part with that amount of cash. If I see a pair on Ebay reasonably priced I am going to get them

I thought I would share a bootsale purchase from the start of the summer - got these 80s beauties for 50p. They fit perfectly but I need to get them reheeled before I can wear them

Oh, you must! They're so lovely and I'll definately get another pair if I spot them in a different colourway on eBay. The leggings were surprsing easy - I've got a long velvet dress I may rework into a pair this weekend. In fact I'm keeping a lookout for second hand stretchy things I can convert.
    xx
