Received my 19 rolls of insulation today at a bargain £17. Just need to find someone to fit it now.

Anyone got any idea what a competent tradesperson would charge to fit it? I'm not planning to do it myself.

    Thanks:j

I put in the loft measurements and left the amount to the online calculator when I ordered. Dd and Bf have laid the rolls now but it seems they are actually bigger than the original measurements because they have at least 4 rolls left over.

    hi

Anyone in the Chester/Wrexham border area received theirs?
I received email confirmation on the day of order but not a word since - tried emailing them but no response....don't want to hassle them if everyone is calling

I'm in the same situation as they haven't emailed me back. Think I'll give the 0845 number a call. I tried to have a look at their on line tracking system but that's worse than useless.
  • so how comes when i use the site it says...

    cost £80.73p

£1 a roll was for 5000 (I think) customers only, and as you guessed its run out! Went pretty quick too !

Still 2 for 1 is still a good offer.

Correct. £1 a roll only lasted a few days. 2 4 1 now. Mind you, there's stacks of us still waiting for ours. I had a look in Focus at the size... 12 x rolls = a pallet 5 ft high. I think I ordered 29 but luckily a large roof for them to go in.

To all the folks laying the insulation themselves, make sure you DON'T lay the insulation right up to the eaves of the roof, a roof needs airflow to stop condensation etc. A good suggestion is to lay the insulation over the joists, and not inbetween.

Won't that just let cold air whistle underneath the insulation from the eaves, pulling all the heat through the plasterboard??

I've done about 12 runs to the tip - I promise, never, ever, again to save boxes that things come in up in the loft "just in case" they go wrong or to sell later on.

    .

You have to leave a 25mm gap. Have a look at page 6 of the pdf which explains it pretty well.

I see the 170mm rolls are now £11.76:eek:

From the top of te insulation to the eaves - yes. But he suggested laying across joists, which would leave a large gap between ceiling boards and insulation.

First you lay the insulation between the joists so the gap between the joists is full to the top of the joists. Then you lay a second layer of insulation across the joists so you have twice the thickness of insulation.
For most of us the first layer between the joists is already there and we are just putting the second layer on top of this but across the joints as recommended.
