I ordered whatever the max was on the thicker stuff because I wasn't sure about the size of my loft so just assumed it would be about the max
but now I'm worried about where I'm going to put it all when it arrives!
The Build Centre in Newcastle have been really lovely - they phoned a couple of days after I ordered it to say they have the stock on order but because they had loads of orders they couldn't deliver it on the day I requested (he said the job of providing and delivering it was sort of 'thrown at them' at the last minute by npower or whoever contracted them) He added 'I didn't want you feeling unloved if it didn't turn up and nobody had warned you' :rotfl:
They've left a couple of messages this week asking me to get in touch with them but I'm either too busy or forget until they're closed
I WILL phone them tomorrow

A typical sized loft in the UK is around 55m2†. If your loft is already insulated up to the top of the joists it will have about 100mm. So you'd need 17 rolls. Or if no insulation at all, 27 rolls. The max orderable was 46 I think! The guy on the phone at Faversham said to me "someone's ordered 40 rolls - they must live in a mansion or be doing their next door neighbour as well!" People who missed the deal are asking if there are any leftovers they can buy, or it can be returned.0

Hi, sorry to go off topic here, but how much difference does it make to have your loft lagged? I ask because i was told by a guy who is in charge of maintenance at our HA that it wouldn't make much difference at all and our upstairs maisonette wouldn't be any warmer if we did have any (we have none at all and some lovely asbestos up there, hence why we have none and noone will do it with that up there, the loft has been sealed shut for the past year!) We are freezing and just want to know how much difference it would make. Thanks in advance

It will make a differance if you can't go in the loft? then work on the inside of your upstairs ceiling. You could put linings in like rolled stiren then lining paper it, that would help. The measure of love is love without measure0

I now have 18 rolls spread all over my house until I can get someone to lay it for me.
I didn't realise how wide they would be and I had a right job getting them in the house off the front garden.
My son thinks I have ordered too many.
Can you lay a double layer or is there a legal, safe limit?NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Same here with me in Pontypridd. I might give them a call tomorrow as I'm worried they have lost my order (and I'm feeling left out with all these people having calls and emails).
How do I go about finding out which branch has my order, does anyone know?:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -

Build Center 0845 270 8250
I rang them, they gave me their order reference number (after asking me for the reference I'd created when I ordered) and told me which depot it was coming from, and their phone number. Big delays on the 170mm because it's being restocked due to demand, the 100mm was just a question of finding free lorries to deliver it. It'll come, some build centers are just better at contacting customers than others are.0 -

Probably the Cardiff branch.
To all the folks laying the insulation themselves, make sure you DON'T lay the insulation right up to the eaves of the roof, a roof needs airflow to stop condensation etc. A good suggestion is to lay the insulation over the joists, and not inbetween.0
