Hi everyone
Well today I'm happy because I've finally got a computer of my own. We were burgled a few weeks ago and the insurance finally paid up. I suppose we were lucky that they didn't do any damage or took anything really precious or personal ( the police said they thought it would be someone on drugs who steals to order so to speak so they only take as much as they can carry and what will sell really quickly)
Its was quite upsetting at the time and annoyong because I had to wait and use other peoples computers when I could and I also lost all my useful lists. I had started to organise Christmas and of course I had loads of moneysaving websites that I went to. The insurance people don't hurry and just take it for granted that you will just go out and buy new straight away.
Anyway I thought I'd just check in
Loads to do

I have a glam art deco style 1930s dress and wanted a retro glam headpiece to match...instead of the usual tiara.
That veil looks fab, and your dress sounds gorgeous! Go for it, it's your day x.... Not sure what to do with my sons bedroom carpet and chair/bed as its such a mess......Any ideas? I cant afford to chuck it all but I feel I may have to.
I would chuck it, and make him pay for the replacements. If he's old enough to drink so much he is so ill, then he is old enough to have to take responsibility for the consequences of his drinking. My sons were threatened with that if they ever damaged anything beyond repair - the older doesn't drink & the younger did his excess-drinking whilst at his dad's house, so your situation was never an issue for me.
OS-iness today has been general tidying & cleaning. It will be leftover fish pie for my supper, OH has taken son of fish pie back to Wales with him, and I've picked all my green tomatoes with the intention of making chutney with MSD's recipe tomorrow evening. Now I'm off to watch the rugby show on ITV4, to see if Friday's Sale Sharks result is still the same or if we won while my back was turned :rolleyes:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Right, slow cooked the chicken.
Left juices in the slow cooker.
Prized chicken off for meal and rest for chicken pie tomorrow. Everything else went back in the slow cooker.
Added veg that didn't get used
Added ved cooking water.
Is this ok? Should I have added the veg and the cooking water? Also would you have added anything else?
Any comments would be fab. Don't know if I should post it here but everytime I post on the main board my post gets moved to somewhere else. Bare with me. Thank you
Sounds fab to me :T, you can either do it this way on on the hob, using the sc makes sense if you had it out anyway, well done xx
Beth, its so nice to 'see' you posting again, I have been wondering how you have been xx0 -
Champion! Thank you. Can I ask I now have a jug full of stock, how much would you put in a big pan of broth?0
-
As much as you like, depends really how much soup you want to make x0
-
Depends on how big your pan is and how thick you like your broth Miche;) Just go by eye. For my family of 5 I'd probably use about 3 pints and expect to have leftovers. Don't be alarmed if your stock turns to jelly once refrigerated. This is normal and good, it means your chicken has yielded lots of nutritious gelatine-rich goodness. It will liquefy again once heated.Champion! Thank you. Can I ask I now have a jug full of stock, how much would you put in a big pan of broth?
BTW don't take the moving of your threads personally:) it is just that we have lots and lots of posts about making stock, cooking whole chickens in the slow cooker etc. It makes everyone's life easier if they are all in the same place. To find your posts easily go to your profile and look at your recent posts;)0 -
Welcome MicheH :hello:
Lovely to see you Beth. Sorry your Mum has been so unwell. xxx
See this
> That's me that is.
I cooked the huge beef joint along with roasties, broccolli, corn on the cob, sprouts, carrots and parsnip. Boiled up half a bottle of wine and some beef stock for the gravy and then took the beef out of the oven to rest. It was rank _pale_. It didn't smell bad at all before it went into the oven.
So despite freezing it a day before it's BBD and defrosting it in the fridge, it has gone off.
The shops close here at six but I'll be taking it back tommorrow, demanding my money back and asking for them to recompense me for the wine I used in the inedible gravy and the chippy we just had.
Rant over....
Oh and the chickens can get out of their run so we're wing clipping tommorrow.
Haribo x0 -
I got no problem with anyone. Was just saying that I have always found Ceridwen to be a very lovely poster. I don't see where you get the idea that I am complaining about anyone??Edinburghlass wrote: »If you two have a problem with any user on here, email abuse and don't bring it on here, its very tiresome.
Nothing OS to report, I don't do OS

it's equally tiresome that I get posts like this levelled at my every post on here. Gets so you can't say something nice about someone..??
Thanks Ceridwen. Not too much time to spend on here - more concerned about things going on in my life. I will pm you as I do not wish to get castigated for talking about my personal life on here again..
Lovely to see Beth back again btw xxWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Good evening folks,
haribo, I'd be fuming too.
I've spent the day cleaning my kitchen, and dejunking my herbs and spice cupboard. I have a garden now, so some things like rosemary I grow so don't need in the cupboard. The oldest jar I found was "mixed herbs" with an expiry date of 1999. I chucked it on the grounds that I obviously don't use it much :rotfl:. I threw the dried chives out too. I don't remember ever using them (about the same vintage), and I have chives in the garden. i also made cakes ready for ds's school lunches, and cleaned out the fish tank.
I then moved onto my friend's house (with master cranky in tow). My friend is looking for something and not finding it, so we cleared out two kitchen drawers, and then she'd had enough, but I carried on and did a cupboard and some floor space too. We didn't find the missing items, but she's still my friend :rotfl: and we chucked out 2 carrier bags and a bin bag of junk.
I made myself a fluffy scarf last winter out of that spiky eskimo wool. In a "nothing ventured nothing gained" kind of way, I've just washed it in the washing machine. It has come out fine :T
Take care all of you.0
