  • forgot to say....I ordered my wedding shoes yesterday:j am trying to do it in stages over the year.
I want people opinions on something...I cant do links so you will have to Google it. Google " Fleur wedge" and you should get a wedding site about veils. The fleur wedge is the birdcage veil I am thinking of having but am worried people migh think it looks a bit mad:rolleyes:
I have a glam art deco style 1930s dress and wanted a retro glam headpiece to match...instead of the usual tiara.

Molly - if you need to get rid of the smell of sick, or anything else obnoxious, use neat alcohol, something like vodka - the alcohol destroys the enzymes. Works every time. I've been there with sons overdoing it, too!

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for your support. Not sure what to do with my sons bedroom carpet and chair/bed as its such a mess. I mean Im a midwife with an exceptionally stong stomach and I dont know where to start:eek::eek::eek:

Any ideas? I cant afford to chuck it all but I feel I may have to. I did make him help me but he was still intoxicated.

Anyway Im gonna shut the door on it at the moment.
NPM - hope you have a lovely holiday and lets hope the weather keeps nice for you. I hope that you are feeling much better and work being ok. Read the Agenda for Change Handbook as it tells you your rights as regards sickness - I found it illuminating.

Welcome MicheH - I hope you feel calmer now. It would be good to see your GP as there are lots of services now that you could use, particularly CBT and thought stopping.

Well onwards and upwards. Need to get ready to go to Costco.
    Love,

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

MDS lovely to here the man in Black this morning and its a good song as well.

Weather is bright at the moment and I'm trying to work up the enthusiasim to do a couple of odd jobs.I have a choice a bit of sewing on some tapes and the bottom of my DGS's trouser(why do the hems always come down are they stitched with gossamer ?) or a neat pile of ironing that really shouln't get any bigger.I made some cakes yesterday and I have a hankering to make some hobnobs this mornig as well decisions, decisions, or on the other hand I could just have a walk over the road to the shops as its such a bright morning and have a browse.I always feel a bit guilty if I don't take advantage of the nice weather ,especially at this time of the year as soon it will close in and we will be back to grey skys and rain. Oh well I think I shall just toss a coin and see what happens. My DD is coming at 1.00 (her son and OH have gone to watch West ham and her DD is at her part-time job) so I'd better think of something for lunch for her.She has her dinner in the evening so maybe her favourite of scrambled eggs on toast .My eldest is such a piccky eater, whereas my youngest will eat anything.
Hope everyone has a great day and does whatever they feel like
    Take care all

    Morning all

It's back to being sunny here :) which is lovely after yesterday's gales and rain! WM has just finished so will be out on the airer on the balcony shortly. I bought a yukka plant in Tesco yesterday for £5, and it came with a free ceramic pot, so I need to decide where it shall live in the flat.

I had a lovely meal last night catching up with some former colleagues, went for a chinese and a drink, not too late a night though.

Today I'm off to watch the Ospreys play rugby late this afternoon. I'm going to pop to my parents after to pick up post and drop off some of the carrot cake I made yesterday.

I woke up too late to watch the Grand Prix, and will miss the re-run later due to the rugby so I'm hoping to catch the highlights tonight inbetween watching X Factor, but it means having to avoid all news on radio/tv/net cos I don't wan tot know who won!!

Breakfast will be scrambled egg on toast, lunch will be leftover pasta bake and garlic bread, and dinner will be pitta bread stuffed with salad and cheese. Or I may swap lunch and dinner round!

Hope you all have a lovely day

don't blame yourself. We cannot control what another person says or does to us, but we can control our reactions to it.

    Diva.x

    Hi all:hello:

I rarely read the Daily Thread - but had to say "Thanks for that Diva" - as I think that's a useful Thought for the Day for many of us - it certainly is for me - having had another "verbal attack" on me in recent hours (not for the first time - and I expect not for the last time either......sigh.....). I have realised that the reason they probably do this is because they appear to have had a "harder" childhood than I did - so not to take it personally - they have probably got into the habit of speaking pretty "strongly" (shall we say) to people - particularly those they sense had things a bit easier (but "lap of luxury" it definitely wasn't....) and maybe don't even realise that the majority of us don't speak so harshly to each other....

Anyways....busy "kitchen" type day for me:

    - am experimenting with drying various foods at the moment - so I've pureed up some apple and put it to dry in my dehydrator (spread out in a layer on top of a coupla "sheet" type things I have)

    - got another tray in that dehydrator with slices of carrot drying away (not done this before either). I never even realised one COULD dry carrot and I'm not too sure what to do with it to eat it/rehydrate it when I have...but I guess I'll find out as I go on

    - planning on having a try at making carrot crisps later (the only vegetable crisps I've ever had so far are the bought variety) - lets hope I get this right ... particularly as I thought I'd just slice them thinly by hand ...rather than searching out the mandoline I bought some time ago and haven't tried to this day yet:o

    - got other recipes lined up for some time later in the week - thought I'd try a carrot puddin' recipe I found on the "glut of carrots" thread on here - won't want much of it myself - so I think I'll "sell" the rest of the slices of it through my local LETS scheme

    - got some fruit to bottle up (another experiment - as I'm new to bottling anyway and will be bottling it in water and/or apple juice - rather than sugar syrup) - unless I "bottle out" and "sell" that as well through LETS..

Must toddle off and lookround t'Internet at some point - to see if I can find some more suitable "liners" to put on top of the mesh trays in my Stockli Dehydrator - unless of course any kind person on here can point me in the right direction.......(makes it awkward that its a round style machine....).

Reet....must go...bread to make and a country walk to have later before I tackle the further onslaught of "cooking"....:D

DD(23) and DH are just about to drive 80 miles to sort out some more of auntie's bungalow.

Could not go with them DD has friend here for sleepover.

DH is going there again tomorrow for 8a.m. for kitchen delivery but can't go as same DD will be in empty house! Starting to see a pattern here!

Going to have a cup of tea and some toast and might make DD and friend home made pancakes later. DH and other DD have packed sandwiches and tea to take with them.

Might make Shepherds Pie later and then just heat it up tonight when everyone gets back.

    Hugs to everyone.

How upsetting Ceridwen. I've just been reading some of your recent posts and am relieved to see that none of them have been countered with 'verbal attacks', so I'm sorry if someone is getting at you from another source.

I'm just wasting time on the pc at the moment, I really should be making the marinade for my sticky spare ribs which will be supper tonight. OH has just informed me that he won't be able to eat them because of his recently repaired chipped tooth:rolleyes: I keep forgetting about it and giving him corn on the cob.

I've got some sour dough rising to bake later. I might make some rolls for lunchboxes too.

I shall make a big bowl of coronation chicken to use for sandwich fillings this week. I've lots of leftover chicken.

Lunch will be soup made from leftover chickpea and chorizo stew plus a tub of leftover bean chilli and some stock. The heel of a loaf will be croutoned to go with the soup. Some grated cheese to sprinkle will be nice too.

Supper will be the ribs with tomato salad, sweetcorn, coleslaw and baked potatoes plus a blackberry and apple crumble and cream.

Goodness I could sit and talk/write about food all day :D
