Morning all, just got back from my burger breakfast job, and got another floor show this morning. Normally I'd just play along, but as i'm in a festive mood today I thought i' have a bit of fun....

So im sitting in the burger restaurant right in the middle, 2 tables of people eating infront of me, and a couple eating behind me, and the manager, a lad who couldn't have been more than 20 bless him, walks right up to me and says "Is everything alright with your meal?" To which I reply with a confused look on my face "Are you hitting on me?" He goes a little red and replies "No, I was just doing my normal checks." So I say "Oh, well it's just that you walked past 3 other tables of people eating just to ask me." At which point he gets flustered and says "errr.. So I did, i'll do them now" and proceeds to ask all the other guests if everything is alright with their food too...

I think I might avoid that particular restaurant for the walk in jobs for a while but even so, best chuckle I had in ages and serves him right for being so brazen.

I did a Scottish one last Sunday which was packed. Out of everyone in the entire place I was the only one where someone followed me to the condiment table and said to sit down and they would fetch my ketchup napkins etc. Back in 30 secs to ask was my meal OK. Then she stands beside me the entire meal. Asking stuff casually like "Done all your Xmas shopping yet" and things like that. Ignores all other customers. To crown it as I went to stand up over she rushed and says the classic" May I take your tray for you as you'll be wanting to go to the toilet"

I don't do these jobs esp as I like the food but the floor show is something else. I didn't do them for ages. Being a snooty cow I thought these places were below my eating standards but I started them recently and get such a laugh.

Brilliant! Although I'd be tempted to also reply with "Why? Is there something wrong in the kitchen?" *look closely at the food*.

I'm sure that my cars been clocked at my local one, the last time I did a drive through the girl who usually serves me when I'm not MS all of a sudden gives me a massive smile and they made the car in front of me go and park in a bay. Unfortunately for them most of the queuing was done before they took my order.

Ooh, additional question on webexpress "30 When observing the service provided to other customers in the restaurant during your visit, how customer-focused was the service?"

More customer focused than the service I received, the same, or less customer focused than the service I received...

Not seen that one before, very very interesting.

Ah that's a goodun! Should give some interesting results.

On a separate note, has anyone else noticed the new addition to the RE notes??
Important Note: Please be advised that on Thursday 24th December 2009 the
website (and our offices) will be closing at 13.00 for the Festive Season and
implementation of our new and improved website which will become available
    on Monday 4th January 2010.
If you choose to carry out your visit during this period we would ask that you
make detailed notes about your experience and keep hold of any receipts where
applicable, to allow you to submit an accurate report on Monday 4th January.
Please be assured this will not affect your shopper score.

Wonder what changes they're going to make to the website?

The current site is a beta (test) site (check the address when you're logged in), I suspect they are going live with the real thing & we probably won't notice any difference as all issues have been ironed out :rotfl:

  • Hi just joined this forum.

Just thought I would share some of my Mystery shop tips.

If you get any shops at supermarkets, petrols stations, corner shops etc. and it requires you to purchase something and the job allows it why don't you purchase some of the magazines that are mentioned in the moneysaving email that contain vouchers or free stuff. Or you could maybe purchase scratchcards and lottery tickets. I've done this at petrol station jobs. (I don't encourage gambling, please be responsible.)

Another thing is when you have to buy stuff at a job, purchase it on a moneyback credit card where you get cash or points that you can convert into vouchers. Also if you purchase on a credit card by the time your card statement comes in you should probably been paid by the MS company and therefore no need to use your own money to pay for thing and be out of pocket until pay day.

Sorry if this has already been noted.

At the risk of being called a troll again! can i just say, i am told by people where i use to work, that their bosses are using "mystery shoppers" to sack people. I said this once before and was called a troll. It looks like their bosses are presenting staff with a ticked list saying they have failed the mystery shop which is against shop policy. So can i ask a) would the paperwork you guys submit identify the company and yourselves? b) if the member of staff being accused appealled thro a tribunal would the MS company appear in court or the actual MS? as my ex colleagues beleive some of the MS presented are fake and done by management to reduce staffing levels. I knew there was something dodgy when i was there, now they know what it is they can fight it... they know this as one memner of staff failed the mystery shop on their day off!!!!!!!!!!

    cheers loopy

Hi Loopy, as we said to you before this is really not an issue for you to be bringing up here as this is nothing to do with us. Your ex-colleagues need to speak to their employer about their concerns.

We are all self-employed mystery shoppers who are given jobs to do. What the companies that employ us and then the companies that employ them (i.e the shops) choose to do with the information that we provide them with is entirely up to them.

You were called a troll the last time you posted on here about this because you didn't understand this and asked us all to lie on the reports to make everything positive so that people didn't get sacked.

So I'll repeat this for you again - your ex-colleagues need to speak to their employer about their concerns.

All I could say is that mystery shopping is used as a tool to improve service and learn from what good points of service members of staff are doing.

Any company I have worked for usually say that mystery shopping is not there to catch people out but used as a training tool.

Sounds like the company are at it if you ask me.
