I am not dishing your service and I am certainly not scaremongering - the threat is real, publishing your IMEI number is like publishing your VISA number with the CVN. If people want their phones unlocked they should download the FREE software and refrain from exposing themselves to criminal gangs.

waht could they do with the imei?
all new nokias have imei hard programmed into chip and if someone knew how to change it, they can only change it to one from a certain list - not any imei.
if they could use it then there would be 2 phones live with the same imei, but how would this affect the owner of the genuine one? their phone would still work the same and the sim hasnt been cloned so the call costs wouldnt be affected

Well ignoring criminal gangs just now, take stiffnuts69 for example, His/Her IMEI Number is IMEI 359*********588 and He/She has a Nokia 2610 - One simple phonecall from ANYONE could have that phone rendered useless.
