Well, think by now my family are convinced I've lost the plot..................lol But grandchildren (17 this year) always tell me they've got everything -so for the last two years they;ve had shoe boxes of odds and sods.......think they like the element of surprise -they've not a clue what their daft nan will come up with..........lol
One of my sons appreciates things home made - being an artist I always get something he's done himself..........other son not so sure but he gets what he's given I'm afraid.
Christmas should be a bit of fun and not all down to who paid what -well, not in my book anyway.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

            Depends what it is really.
Every year I make pickles, chutneys and jams and people always look forward to them and I also get requests. My friend crochets and every year she makes my kids hats, scarves and gloves, they are always lovely. Another friend make them knitted stockings which are amazing and will be used forever.
However..........
Last year I got a basket from a less crafty friend with one of those cheap nylon scrunchies, a random mug with a metal spoon dipped in chocolate, few other things and a magazine, take a break or something mad, loads of common people going on about how there smacked up kids were not bad lads really.
I also reckon 99 out of 100 people who get snowman soup never drink it.
Isn't it the thought that counts though?
OK, obviously your friend misjudged your taste (it wouldn't be my taste either), but she still went to the effort of putting it together, which says something. I'm guessing it was meant to be a relaxation basket, which is a nice thought.0 -
I'm just sick of people not appreciating anything, I went to the trouble of going to costco the other week because it was my OH's nans birthday I picked up one of the giant victoria sponges thinking I was doing something nice but instead I got my OH's sister saying it was horrible and I'm always shopping in costco. I don't know why I bother this christmas I'm only buying a few people and his sister and her animals aint one of them. If people are ungreatful don't bother next time! They never bothers with my birthday or anything, neither does his mum, nan, sister or anyone else in his family so why should I bother?

That's the rudest thing I ever heard! I can't believe people actually say things like that!0 -

Thank you so much for the link, Irishgirl. What a wonderful idea!!! I really will make one of these for mum. You're very thoughtful.
By picking questions now and then, it will be less daunting for her to complete.
I'm inspired....:A"It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0 -
This is the first year that I am making HM presents (I have bought some shop bought things too) but its mainly because I have more time, and I know that I can make something of better quality and cheaper than in the shops. I.e somewhere was selling a kilner jar of chocolate covered brazil nuts for £12. I can probably make this for less than £5. My mums already said that my gran etc will appreciate the thought I have put into their hampers.
Anyone that doesn't like them then tough poo!!0
