I wish people would appreciate H/M gifts!

Am i the only one who desperately wants to make (And really enjoys making!) home made gifts for people, but the recipients don't seem to appreciate them?
I can't think of anyone except my MIL who really enjoys my H/M gifts. I put so much thought into it all last year and people made me feel like i'd given them all cast-offs, even though they tried to pretend to be pleased
I wish i had people to make gifts for who really enjoyed them - all my recipients seem to prefer the boxed ready-to-go gifts from boots etc

When people ask what i want for a birthday or Christmas present i never know what to tell them, if there's anything i need i'll buy it for myself, so come special occaisions there's never anything i want.
So i think it would be nice to receive a gift that time and thought had gone in to rather than something in a big from Argos, the only thought being where to scan a plastic card.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

i know the feeling, my family are so hard to please!!
Last year i gave them all a glass etched with their names (i had made these myself) and they seemed to react the same!! It is tough cos they are getting handmade again this year!!
The tutorial for the glasses if you are interested is on my blog but i can not post links yet, if you google "a day in the life of a craft fairy" it will come up!

last xmas was the first I did not give home made xmas present as my partner died and it was felt throughout the family and friends, so this year I am doing extra H/M gifts to make up for last year
I think if people do not appriecate H/M gifts they must be shallow... I made ai book for a lady who was 100 last August and I have heard about the book so many times through people who did know know it was me who made it for her saying and it sums it all up cos she has told lots of people and her sons too that "it was the most lovely gift as she put thought, energy and time into making this book"I am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:
Weight loss so far 2 stones 6lbs!! :j:j0 -

hiya, what about sending a h/m gift to a seriously ill child, their siblings (who often get left out in life) or even their mum via www.postpals.co.uk?
Im lucky that my family appricate the energy that goes into h/m gifts but last year i was telling my friend about it and she told me that everyone would just htink i was being cheap. I wish she had said before i spent so much energy making her gift for her (which i could actually have brought in a supermarket for a fraction of the price), really disheartened me!Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

If no-one you know would like homemade gifts, you can send them all to me because I love them but no-one ever gives me any! I would absolutely adore receiving some of the things that people have made on here, you can see that people have put a lot of time and effort and love into their homemade gifts, it makes me angry to read that people don't appreciate it and think that they're being cheap, or just short of shrug

This is the first year I'm doing homemade stuff, mostly for OH who I know will appreciate it because he's requested the things especially (sock monkey and cuddly felt totem from is favourite computer game), but also for some other people just as little extras to their presents ie pots of gold, flavoured vodkas, mini half eaten gingerbread decorations, sock monkeys etc so if they don't like it it's not going to be a massive disappointment because they'll have shop bought gifts too.
I wouldn't make anything for my immediate family, mainly because I can't think of anything they'd like
I'm making a foodie hamper for OHs parents this year and I'm seriously worried they won't like it

Aw Claire I'm sure they will love the hamper!
One Christmas however springs to mind from many year ago. I spent ages making dried flower baskets for OH's mum and grannies. His family make a big deal out of Christmas and exchanging gifts and I thought they'd be really pleased to get a unique, handmade gift. None of them showed any more appreciation (in fact probably less!) than if I had just got something in the shop. A few months later one of the grannies "recycled" the empty basket and gave it to my niece, she must have chucked the flowers away!
What can you do! Some people would just prefer an anonymous shop gift, so don't waste your energy on them. Buy them a cr*ppy gift set (probably cheaper as well) and spend your energies making some nice HM decorations or treats that you will enjoy.0 -
I have bought things for people, but I love making gifts, so I am going to also give out some HM presents too.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I wouldn't have a clue about how to go about it but as we all LOVE handmade presents we ought to have a swop amongst ourselves this Christmas!
What do you think?0
