Have just been on the council's website and it should be a saving of £324 a year, or £32 a month

:j Woo Hoo Hypno!!
Did you have to have some kind of inspection/valuation as part of the re-banding?
I'm still trying to get my parents to try and get theirs re-banded. They live in a terraced house (in a row of ~15) and all but 3 in the row are on a lower banding. All the terrace are identical/mirror images with a few having small cellars too - though not my parents or the other higher banded houses! They wont do it as they don't want anyone coming round and looking round everywhere... It would be quite a bit of money I think as they've lived there since the 80s so the refund would be right from the early 90s when council tax came in I think. :wall: Looking at the valuation dates 1 house in the row had a date of ~5 yrs ago instead of whatever year (1993?) the others had (and are on the lower band) so its possible they appealed and were successful.
Council tax banding is actually what prompted me to 1st come to MSE - Martin had been talking about it on GMTV! Sadly it would appear my C band is normal for a 1 bed flat in my area...Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

No one came to visit - thank goodness, it would have involved a panic tidy!!
I just did my homework by checking houses like ours on our estate on the VOA website - quite easy to spot ones like ours because it is a modern estate, plus they were built in 1991 so easy to work out the value at the relevant point in time because we know the people who bought it from new
Then I wrote one letter outlining my case, and got a letter by return saying they would look into it and get back to us within 2 months. Then today, the letter came saying we have been rebanded, and it applies back to April 1st 1993, so will cover all the time we have been here, and for the people who owned it before us too
No hassle, no phone calls, no arguing, no fighting, no stress, and no need to tidy up.........makes a change :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Well done, that is a fantastic result :T:T.
I went through the process, but they decided we were in the correct band . Still it only takes a few minutes so well worth having a go.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

Head up to the "reclaim £000's" red tab at the top of the boards - all the info, links etc are there. Def do your homework first, and get together as much info as you can before you right -that way, they have less chance of sending back a "sorry, no" letter.
Am trying to do flylady, cook a curry, keep an eye on free bingo......having some success, but am all over the place :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
