I'm glad you can get to go visit your nana..... thats lovely to be able to do that for the afternoon.
Work at the moment - a friend of mine is an IT manager, he's been made redundant twice over the last four years, (and also had a stint abroad in Germany) - he *cannot* get an IT job at the moment, and right now he's doing weekend work delivering prescriptions for Boots. All sorts of people are taking all sorts of jobs........2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh..I see!!!....think that's a good,sensible way to do it.
Enjoy your afternoon with your nan and glad DS is feeling better0 -
. All sorts of people are taking all sorts of jobs........
And that is where the problem is - OH is not a "career" person, and is not particularly well qualified.......but now, more people are looking "beneath" their experience just so they have *something*, and they are the jobs that previously OH would have got two or three of without a problem.....now there is far more competition from people who previously would have been seen as over qualified, but who are now happy to take something that pays anything!
Right, rant over, off to see Nana....catch you all later xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Oh. B*gger. Part of the problem, not the solution. Sorry
don't blame you for ranting
, wish I could scrub that post now ...

Well done with the skiing but sos ds is suffering again.
I went out with my ds yesterday - he phoned up out of the blue and asked me to accompany him to purchase an evening suit for a future event - I couldn't refuse a chance to see him in bow tie etc when I usually get to see him in scruffy jeans and t-shirt
Enjoy the visit to your nan

He can be quite "head in the sand" over work things (along with all things finance related", so I quite think he will accept this latest arrangement, and although he says he will look for something else, his definition of "looking for another job" is a quick glance in the job section once a week in the paper, and hope that someone knocks on the door one day saying "hello, you must be Mr Hypno, I know you are looking for another job and I have the perfect job for you, no need to update your CV, no need to come for an interview, and by the way, we will double your existing salary"

Oh yours is like that too! Sorry to hear about the situation.Mr.B did something similar two years ago for job security and now has lots less to play with he also got a whacking great tax bill and well you know the saga:o I am glad in one way that you are better placed to weather the storm a bit and thinking back, was i wrong in reading that you sort of expected it?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

The goalposts have been moved about ever since day one, so I have always taken a bit of a cynical view, hence my need to have some money in savings because I just don't ever believe it it is all it has been promised. I think he is a) too close to the situation to see it for what it is and b) worried that by saying something he will have no job at all.

sorry to hear about the paycut for your oh and the lack of extra shifts. My OH is stuck in a lower paying job than he probably should be in - but it fits in well with the kids... It is a compromise we have had to learn to live withAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Back to work today, although I could do with another day off
Still tired
Scratches done, and banking shows nothing abnormal, so no real concerns there to deal with.
Flylady today is DS's pit  I will have to tackle that when I get home from work.......something to look forward to.......not!
