:rotfl::rotfl:
Lol! No, that's a problem a lot of non-native English speakers have with the language: there are a huge number of accents over a small geographical area. They learn standard English at uni (often to a very high standard), but the colloquialisms and vast range of differences in expression and accent are a puzzler to a lot of non-native speakers at first.
As for Dublin 4, how do they survive in the rest of the country when they leave their 'roondaboots' behind?!Please call me 'Pickle'

If we get people on the phone at work with strong Scots accents they tend to get passed to me as I can understand them - the geordie accept however I find totally incomprehensible! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Very strong Glaswegian (particularly after the consumption of alcohol) seems to be the only accent I don't understand in any of the languages I speak. Don't ask me why. We had a lovely over-the-road neighbour who I did not understand in the slightest for about six months after he moved in. He would come over and I just had to nod in what I felt were the right places so that I didn't have to admit he was incomprehensible to me. Oh, the shame!Please call me 'Pickle'
