It must be awful to get into a situation where you let things slip and then it gets out of hand, and the resulting squalor makes you feel worse, so you are less inclined to clean up etc etc.
Ugh! What gets me are the ones who haven't just let it slip but are quite happy living in the muck then can't be bothered to clean it up and get Kim and Aggie in as a free cleaning service. I'd die of the shame if my house ever needed that! :eek:Please call me 'Pickle'

So.......so far, in my mission to get my act together, the following rooms have been decluttered and are acceptably clean and tidy..........
Lounge (although there is still a pile by the sofa of paperwork to be filed)
Conservatory - a lovely place to sit now, and the bikes are back in the shed
Dining room - we can still eat dinner around the table!
Kitchen - degreased and much clearer
My bedroom - including a well ordered wardrobe and sorting out of clothes
Bathroom, en suite and downstairs loo - no embarrassment when guests "need to go"
Airing cupboard - not that anyone sees it, but I know it is tidy!
Areas that still need work:
Spare room (the current home for the ironing pile)
Filing paperwork by the sofa in the lounge
cupboard under the stairs
Utility room - better than it was, but not good enough yet
Computer "workstation" - the old computer needs everything taken off it so it can be scrapped.
Childrens rooms......they're teenagers, need I say more
I'm taking another child to the races at the weekend, so their parents have just dropped his kit off with me so I can load the car......they have never been round before, and I was not expecting them.......but of course they came to the back door, which is where the utility is......which is now one of the worst places in the house! So I still have a lot of work to do before I can open my door and be comfortable with inviting people in!
But, I am making progress - that much CAN be said! And hopefully, if I can get on top of it in the way I have got on top of the finances, it will lead to another area of my life getting more ordered......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I am a typical "pear" so have plenty of curves - unfortunately I am also quite short, so the extra weight is noticable quite quickly!
However, I am sitting here in my new casual stuff, and it feels very comfortable, and I actually look better in it than I did in my old stuff, as I haven't got extra bulges doing their houdini bit.......;)
So, again, I am "getting there"......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Oh, and sorry to keep going on about the decluttering and housework - but it is a big deal for me to be making inroads!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Blimey Hypno - you ARE Flylady!!:rotfl:
Incidentally Taxi, here's a link to the lady herself

As for being a pear, it's better for your health than being an apple like moi.
(Plus I was congratulated last month on my "pregnancy" - I'm not. I wasn't doing myself any favours as I was even eating a 99 at the time :o)
I got quite into Flylady when on maternity leave a few years ago. I never got as far as dealing with "Bodyclutter", but that, overwhelming house clutter and debt do seem to be interlinked.
So it seems that now the debts are under control Hypno, the house is getting there - your body is next! You WILL be fit and 40! (And I WILL living in my new house and 40!:D)
Just been watching Location, Location - How do these people come to have a budget of £1,000,000?0 -
I've just been offered a workshop to teach in a couple of weeks -not my favorite subject, but three hours at a decent hourly rate.......so I won't turn it down. I will need to do some thinking about subject matter over the weekend while I am in my travel inn room!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. hi hypno - so glad to read about your new clothes and you doing something for you! Fab - healthy even! On the size 16 - that is the current average size for women in Britain so take heart (and still a size smaller than me LOL)
keep talking about decluttering it is fine - I have been doing bits in the lounge and kitchen but they are still not "there" yet. I am pretending the other rooms in the house don't exist at the mo from a tidying perspective....!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hypno don;t worry too much about clothes sizes, what is a 16 in one shop is a 14 in another and can even be a 12 elsewhere!!!
DD, how is very tall and slim has to buy anything from an 8 to a 14 depending on where it comes from
Good luck with thinking about a subject for a workshop0 -
I am glad that gerbil and I are being of assistance, DT :rotfl:glglglgl and tyvm
It is about a year since I taught this particular subject.......thankfully I have my old notes on my laptop, and I have a powerpoint presentation that I did for a similar session, still.......so with a bit of cobbling together over a coffee or four at the weekend, I can come up with something worth attending, I am sure.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
