I have been shopping - I have decluttered all those things that I have been kidding myself I can slim back into. I have lost no weight whatsoever, so obviously my head isn't in the right place for that. In the meantime I have to stop kidding myself that the size 12 clothes that I have been squeezing myself into do nothing for my appearance or my mental state, as I constantly see how they are straining at the seams and feel crappy about it.
So they have all gone to the bin/charity shop as appropriate.....I have therefore taken my £100 I got as a bonus from work the other week, and have bought two pairs of jeans (size 16.......no wonder my size 12s were not comfortable), from Next a casual skirt and a new pair of PJs from M&S , and a whole load of t-shirts and sweaters from primark. I have got quite a lot for my £100 and will look a whole lot more presentable than I have been.
Sadly, I will need to do the same with my work wardrobe, which will be more expensive.....so that will have to wait for a while. But at least my weekend clothes are more presentable.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Well done Hypno on spending some money on you for once.0

its always a painful process having to buy bigger sizes ...but i think it would be more painful to continue to torture yourself with thinking you are huge when you are bursting out of the seems ....well done on taking the initiative ...and who knows maybe after the debt and house are sorted it will be time for you ..(i am still waiting for my cognative shift to happen sigh)
knowing you you will have found a challenge by now to find the money for the work clothes that will work for you ....i wish i had your determination ...mine is flickering at the m oment0 -
Thankyou for the link...I have read a few pages of that but perhaps I need to get my house right first!!!!
I made a start today....I have scrubbed the kitchen sink and drainer, cleaned the window sill and cleaned the cooker top and surrounding worktop on that side of the kitchen.
I'm now waiting for BG as my hot water isn't working...I will do a hour or more of other housework when DH has gone to work!!!
That's fantastic that you spent the £100 on yourself and did get a lot for your money. We cannot do without when needs really must.0 -
Good for you, Hypno - I know the feeling of how horrible it can be to buy higher sizes..... but as you say, the lack of comfort makes it essential in the end. You're doing great on the debtbusting, and on the decluttering and cleaning, and you've been very, very fit earlier this year - being trim in size is maybe one step too far. I'm fighting against going up a size myself - but my clothes are so old, I have jeans etc in all sorts of sizes, it isn't so noticeable
I need to buy a bra now..... sigh.....

you are all so lazy with your dirty houses, why can't you just be like me, currently sitting in a lovely clean bedroom, with gleaming bathroom next door
. (I can highly recommend staying in a posh hotel for work, although I have managed to personalise it already with my stuff strewn everywhere :rotfl:. Still, room v nice & I have been brought up fresh milk for my tea & coffee.)
Currently having a picnic as room was over budget so couldn't afford to eat out. All stuff was reduced so managed to get a bottle of (screw top) wine as well, mmmmmmm, rioja and olives
Well done on treating yourself Hypno :T. I like Mackays for PJ's, also Tesco. M&S too posh for me if it's not going on public displayA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I will be staying in a travel inn over the weekend, does that count, gallygirl? Although with three teenagers staying in the "family room" with me, I am sure that "tidy" will not be the word to describe it!
I'm almost done with flylady for today - bathroom, en suite and "study" - I don't have a study as such but have cleared out some unneeded emails on my laptop and done a defrag, etc so that all counts!
I hope you have all had a good day!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Don't worry about size 16 or whatever, it is only a number on a label when all is said and done, and clothes should be comfortable as well as look good! You could always buy 2 of something, a size 12 and a size 16. Cut the size 12 label out and sew it into the size 16 garment. Then flog the size 12 garment on ebay - result, some money back plus everyone thinks you are wearing a size 12, only you will know otherwise! Alternatively, fly the flag for real-sized women! One life - your life - live it!0
