OH won't let me sell the few precious childhood toys that he still has.......shame, because I think they could fetch a little bit, but I understand his reasons behind keeping them........I suppose!

I've done a reasonable amount of housework - mainly the lounge.....ok, almost exclusively the lounge......trying to get at least one room properly sorted. It is soul destroying though, never ending.......*sigh* I am trying with flylady, I really am - but flylady seems to have more energy than I do. Goodness I am never going to make it in the non-chaos stakes :o

We are almost at the end of 2009, and although the house looks a little tidier than it did at the beginning, and we have taken a huge amount to the tip/charity shop I still feel as though I have a huge mountain to climb. At least I see the debt figures coming down, whereas the work on the house doesn't seem to show any improvement. I haven't done any decorating of rooms this year, the windows are still holding on for dear life as they haven't been replaced and the kitchen still hasn't had the last remaining tiles put up, or the trim put on the cupboards......6 years after it was started.

So, 2010 HAS to be the year I get things sorted. I can cope with not replacing the bathrooms.....I have decided that scrubbing it all to within an inch of its life is good enough, but the rest of it looks about as tired as I feel, and really does need a freshen up......and it isn't ever going to do itself.

    Same old......same old.......

Hi Essex. Thanks for the info, but I'm not 100% on this so can I run my situation through with you? That's a nod, isn't it? Oh it isn't? Oh well, I'll just tell you anyway...;)

right, I used my CC unawares that it counted as a cahs advance for my £5 BB deposit. I won £20 and withdrew it within the same 24hr period. The only thing is I have no chance of clearing the card immediately. Do you reckon it will get shuffled to the back of the pack as a cash advance payment until the end of time? If I bleat at my CC company if they do this, might that help?

What's all the more annoying is that I could have easily used my debit card, but I just used ny CC for safety as it was the first time I've used this account and prefer not to give my bank acount details to sites until I am sure about them. :( Piffle and tish!

    Thanks Essex! :)

pickle, the best thing for you to do is to look at the terms and conditions for the particular credit card that you have got as they all differ. If in doubt, then, give them a call and talk it through with them, and at the same time, you can plead to their better nature if you need to.

As I say, every card is different, so you may get a positive answer from EH, but that doesn't actually apply to your particular account.

For what its worth - I have always used our normal current accounts for everything MSE, and have never had a problem.

Right you are, Hypno: there's no point being a whinge bag and wondering, I should get on with it and find out. I was just in a panic.

As it goes, I don't ever remembering getting any written T&C with the CC as they doled it out to me when I was a student as an add-on to my account, but I just had a look on the website at the (small amount of) T&Cs printed there and it doesn't say anything about it, so at least I can argue that point if necessary. I'm sure they'll try to wiggle, but I'm seeing what else I can find on the site.

And Hypno, dear Lord, do you ever STOP beating yourself up?! Ok, so your house isn't perfect (and that's annoying, I know, if you are houseproud), but you can't work full-time, spend every non-working moment debt busting, ferry the kids to and from various sporting engagements most weekends AND expect your house to be in perfect condition all the time. It's not possible. Unless you hire a full-time maid, and that's not very :money:, is it?

Cut yourself some slack and stop beating yourself up or else I'm coming to Norfolk to pelt you into submission with Jaffas (and that would be a waste of chocolate). ;):naughty:

And you got the patio sorted.... didn't you cover some huge great hole and put a useable surface on it? You're doing more than you think you are, Hypno - and you're going on a girly holiday in a week! Just keep going enough so that you can enjoy it.

Yes, I know, I know.........and yes I do have a clear conservatory and a clear dining room.......and have had for many months now, which is a huge success......and my bedroom is much better.......and the garden will be much easier to keep tidy in the spring now that the pond has been filled in, and the gravel done.

So, yes, I admit that we HAVE made progress......it's just that there is still so much to do!

But I will shut up now - I suppose if I make the same amount of progress next year, I will have made a huge difference in total.

Pickle - you may well find the info you need on the back of your monthly CC statement.....

OH is home from work - he earned a very useful £120 today......it is his work "do" this evening, so £20 will go towards his drinks etc for that, and £100 goes in the ski fund. All in all, a good weekend, moneywise.

I have a pre-paid card I use for internet use, so I always use that the first time I use a particular website, just to be safe. It was worth paying £4.95 for the peace of mind it gives me. That and the fact that my credit rating is shot to pieces and don't want to push Egg into cancelling the only credit I have left.

Oh Hypno! We've shut you up on your own diary!:grouphug: Not the intention.... I can see the list of stuff in the bits of posts I've taken, above, and there is loads still to do, of course there is...... and you're so admirable in what you *do* do, its hard to remember that just like the rest of us you have targets that you shoot for and miss..... thats all it is, you know.

So don't worry, you carry on focussing on what you *want* on here, not just your considerable achievements - we'll support you all the way.
