Well done on the ski sale yesterday.

Looks like we're on the move again, so got until end of Dec to empty the freezer etc., declutter and pack. So going to be 'fun' with Christmas in the time frame too.

I think you will need them!!

    Hope the bonus comes through.

I hate how they send out those cheques, although at 3% your virgin ones don't sound as bad as they normally are.

Yes, the cheques are at the same rate as my 0% promo offer, (I did check, just in case!), but there is the usual 3% balance transfer fee). I really hope I don't have to use one, but they are there as a last resort if need be.

DS's match got cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, which means I don't have to travel, and can get some other bits done at the ski club, paperwork wise, which need to be done ahead of their trips......

But, as a result of the cancelled match, DS is in a foul mood. Of course, me suggesting that he helps me with the housework this morning rather than later this afternoon did nothing to help the situation. 14 year old attitude is well and truly in full flow at the moment.....and more than once I have said that I could easily find other things to do with the money/time/energy than focus on HIS skiing.......bah!

He is a good kid and contributes hugely to the whole thing - he works hard doing his paper round 6 days a week without complaint, he does more than his fair share of cooking, and he never asks for anything else (no Wii, no playstation etc) because he knows all the money goes to his skiing.

BUT Sometimes, the "Kevin the teenager" mode far far far outweighs all of those positives, and when I am tired, and have that feeling of going round in circles, it really is the last thing that I need.

This parenting thing is bloody hard work at times.

About the teenager thing. One of mine said when he was older, that at the time of the teenage bits, he knew he was wrong, but he couldn't do anything about it. It really was just the teenage changes, and inside he was just the same, it's just the outside impression hid it. The only advice is try to keep calm and go with the flow, they're not enjoying the experience either.

wasn't that your avvie at one point? Keep calm and carry on:D! words to live by...

Dreading teenage years here, DS has enough attitude at ten... we had words yesterday though about how taking the mickey and taking me for granted would just lead to grumpiness and lack of fun times so he has bucked his ideas up somewhat... so far:).

  • On the subject of using credit cards for gambling purposes (that includes betting sites, bingo etc). Most charge it as a cash advance, which means possibly a fee but definitely an extortionate rate of interest commencing on the day you make the withdrawal from the card. You may get away, on one occasion and so long as you clear the card immediately, with argueing your case as you didn't realise and getting them to refund the cash advance fee, you will probably have to pay the interest though. Remember also that card companies will stash the highest interest rate transactions to the back of the queue for receiving payment, so if you HAVE used credit cards at all anyone take a careful look at what is happening and react accordingly, but do it quickly. Might be necessary to shuffle money about and pay off the card in full. Not sure whether an extra payment to the normal - with a convering letter asking that it is targetted at the higher interest rate stuff, might work in some cases.

Teenager timing is wonderful, they do seem to sense the worse possible time.
