Right - !!!!!! first.....
About 10 years ago (pre house from hell, just.....) we looked around a development - a conversion of an old victorian hospital. OH particularly liked the chapel, but they had no plans for the development of that building at that time. When they did develop it, the price tag was silly-high.
Today it is in the paper.......empty......and silly-low price. Click here and you will see what I mean.
In many ways it seems daft not to at least go and look at it again - it would be within our reach even with the debt at the level it is, if we could achieve a quick sale on ours. HOWEVER, it does not tick absolutely all boxes as it has no garage, parking might be an issue, etc, which means that it is not totally dream house.
I think it will be a case of.....not quite right.....but I may be tempted to go and have a look over the weekend!!
Go there and have a look-see. Have a bit poke around. Explore all the nooks and crannies. Then turn around and say that although you like the looks of certain aspects, you think that long-time it would be a disaster.

It has to be said. Karmacat, that the smell of bacon butties is the reason for many people eating meat: if God had meant us not to eat meat, he would not have made it smell so good!
Or as Dave Barry said, "If God didn't want us to eat animals, he would not have made them out of meat...""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

£5.50 on BB this morning.....scratches and banking next, then doing my taxi bit, and will go for a run while DS is skiing.
Hope you all have a good day xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Good morning, £3 on BB this morning.
Sounds like you're definitely wanting to move soon. When we were planning on moving last time, I did your equivalent of the flylady idea, each day I'd go through a drawer or cupboard and declutter, it saved on hiring the skip as things were disposed of gradually, also gave more time to pass things on etc so less was dumped in total.
Hope the run goes well.0 -
I've only ever seen this house as a staging post.......so the intention was always to move on, but I don't want to make another mistake, so financially I have to be in the right place.......and we are getting there with that one, so we are heading in the right direction. Yesterday's house wasn't perfect enough to drop everything for and risk making that mistake......but if the right one comes along......
However, OH did clear out his clothes drawers and wardrobes and put loads in the bin/charity shop etc - could this be the start of something:rotfl:
Banking shows £20.50 of bb money and £17.90 mystery shop money, so that has gone to the ski pot, which still needs a scary amount of money in the next couple of weeks
But, as we approach 1st December, and I have no more dds to pay, no more paydays due in, I have started December's figures now.....1st December is my traditional "start of the challenge" time for my signature, so the figure will reflect where we are now and what I have paid off over the course of next year.
The 1st December 08 to 1st December 09 accounting period (!) saw me clear off capital of £19206.82 which is less than I had aimed for, but considering that we had a couple of ski trips in there for various people, plus a trip to China for DD, and our first family holiday for years, isn't a figure I am upset by.
The current ski-fest needs to be paid for by mid-December, then once that is done, I am back to debt-busting and building up a bit of savings. I am determined to be debt free in the next few months, and that starts right hereSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. DS has decided not to ski today, so I will take DD to work, leave the car there, and run round "dream home" area insteadSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
