Verbatim, I felt a bit icky and had a bit of a temperature, so couldn't get comfortable - perhaps the run made me ill :o So I wasn't thinking of anything, or worrying of anything as such, just couldn't sleep and ended up reading for an hour in the middle of the night.....

As a result, I have truly struggled today, so I do hope I sleep tonight - no running, and I don't feel so icky now so should be ok.

Beanie, thank you for the offer, but I will raid Boots tomorrow - keep yours for when you need them xx

Mudbath, even £20 a month off the mortgage will make a difference - play around with the snowball calculator and you will be amazed how much in interest you save over the term with just £20 extra going out.

DS is off to watch the match tonight and I am playing taxi for that, but otherwise nothing much going on - no wins on BB, and just 10p on scratches.....one is up to £8 though, so will be ready to payout in a couple of weeks or so.......

  • Glad you are feeling a little better this evening. Seems to be lots of bugs around at the moment although I'm sure they should have drowned in this weather!!

Had a £5 win on BB today, signed up a couple of weeks ago after reading about it on here (of course)!!!Will be sorry when it ends, will get OH to sign up then I can still get my fix. I was very confused when the moderator kept asking me for my CG number this morning - told them I was a bingo virgin and they had to explain what it was all about.

Have decided not to send Christmas cards this year and instead donate the money I would have spent to the animal sanctuary I took the puppy I found at the weekend - if people don't like it, I'm not really bothered. I would rather people didn't send them to me and donated the money to a charity instead - we seem to get some really rubbish cards - of the 5000 for £1 standard and these are from people who are very well off - the stamp must costs 10 times as much as the card! Sounding like scrooge now!!!!

Have a good evening. Hope you sleep well, OH is a terrible sleeper I even bought lavendar and hops and made little pillows after seeing it on Grow your own drugs programme but to no avail. Will save money for hammer next time!

A hammer sounds like a super idea.....!

As does the idea of not sending cards - at work, we choose a charity and then each person donates money instead. Last year it was for Mencap, who are the charity I ran the London Marathon for, but each year someone can choose a favoured charity and if every one of 40 people in the office donates £5 instead of buying cards, that is an easy £200 for a worthy cause.

The next stage of the bank charges saga happens in the morning when the courts deliver their latest verdict.......for those of you who haven't followed this diary since the start, I have a claim in for £4000 + with barclays, and got a court date etc for my claim, but just three weeks before I got to have my day in court, the whole thing was put on hold and on hold it has been ever since.

I have all but written off the £4000 now, but it would certainly be more than welcome if I could get any of it back! I will be hoping for a quiet few moments (some hope) at work in the morning to catch up with the announcements.......trying not to be too hopeful because I don't want to count on something coming back to me that may not go my way.....

  • OMG £4000 is a serious amount of money - will be watching news with interest tomorrow. Had a bit of a result myself recently with a MEAF from Abbey National - sent off a template letter and in less than 2 weeks got cheque back for £126. If only it was all that easy.

Everything crossed for you and all who are waiting for the verdict.

When the OFT looked at credit card charges, they ruled that £12 was deemed to be a "fair" charge, so you could easily claim back anything between £12 and whatever you had been charged.

I suspect the bank charges will be similar - £12 or so, which means that if you have been charged £25, you will get £13 back, which would certainly be better than a kick in the teeth.

As I say, I have more or less written off the money - it is long gone, so to get anything back after so long will be very welcome......although I suspect there will be a long drawn out process of appeal and the like, whatever the decision tomorrow........

Oh, and I am pleased to say that in the last 18 months, I have only had 2 charges.......both for silly oversights on my part, so won't complain about those.....but it is a far cry from the 5 or 6 charges PER DAY that we were getting when things were at their worst :o
