I was 37 before I bought a house, and I am still unconvinced of the benefits! I loved renting and lived in some fabulous places with no cares about maintenance or fluctuating house prices!

I bought my first house at 18 - one bed starter home.
Next one at 22 - 3 bed mid terrace
Next one at 25 - 3 bed detached
Then at 26 - 4 bed detached - everything ok up until that point.

Then at 28 bought what turned out to be the house from hell.........
sold House from Hell at 31 and rented for a year.
Bought present 4 bed detached at 32.........still there.

The plan was for me to be in the dream house by 40.......I started off well, at least

No - it was another step on the way......except it turned out to be a very large step backwards rather than then expected step forwards

Interesting to see house histories! I haven't had many, in spite of my great age :D

    Bought first flat age 26
Sold it age 30, rented/squatted/moved around for 18 months
Bought first house, terrace, age 32
    Bought 2nd house, semi-d, age 43.

    Still there!

The immediate future: bought 3rd house, detached, aged 55.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
