It was very unfair from Martin to appear on GMTV and say that as there's nothing illegal or abusive in coupons.
The coupons are an incentive to the buyer and this is "systematic Marketting" aiming to get the buyer to spend more money.
Most companies are trying to get you to buy products either via sampling, coupons,
special offers, BOGOF offers, competitions and holidays.
Tesco's never lost any money as the coupons were value exchagable + 1p or 2p handling charge.
The companies have got their money as they are part of their marketting/ promotion campaigns and are claiming the tax from inland revenue in their balance sheet.
So all this about people abusing the system is total nonsense.

I will be shopping around and not obliged to shop from TESCO just to save £3-£4 when spend £10.
I will still be saving money as Tesco is not cheap at all!
It's just goodbye TESCO, and on tho ALDI,LIDL, NETTO and anywhere else cheaper than TESCO.

Tax relief doesnt equal the same amount as the cost of the product ,therefore there will be a loss to the companies involved.

In the good old days when tesco did R&R exactly the same thing happened, people got greedy and took the p!ss. Spoilt it for everyone else  Once again greed get the better of others.

I would say 99% of the time its not through need that people do this ,its just plain greed .The boots thread was the same ,and dont get me started on the freebies thread ,it doesnt matter what is offered on there ,people apply for it all

its fine for martin lewis, to make himself look good on tv. i used to rely on using a few manufacturers coupons(not printed) to get a couple of pounds off a shop, with 3 children and a husband that is in the building trade money is very tight at the moment, the coupons meant that we could afford better meat for instance, maybe a pork joint intead of sausages, and some fruit and veg.now we are really going to have to tighten our belts,so thank you martin, i hope you are pleased with yourself, maybe next time you might think before opening your mouth

As I have said on another thread do you honestly think Tescos were unaware of the coupon abuse before the programme? There are plenty of other sites dedicated to how to fiddle the system I am sure Tescos have been avid readers

  • tesco are well aware of coupon usage, and so are the masses and the manufacturers now that martin has announced it to the nation on gmtv
