I like Martin and the good work he has done taking on the banks and the unfair charges.
However, each time he opens his mouth on the latest Tesco 'loophole'its goodbye to that offer as the unthinking masses descend upon the stores.
It really is time for him to take
stock and use a bit of finesse before trying to make himself look good on GMTV/Jeremy Vine usually on the back of someone elses research.
BTW I've never been a coupon abuser myself, just tesco issued ones with my name on.:money:

nothing to do with people abusing the coupon system in the first place then ? splitting shopping trips to use multiple amounts of coupons ? think you'll find its the greedy minority have spoilt it for the rest of you ,not Martin

That's probably true in part, but I don't think Martins input helped

This site is a fantastic resource for many of us and Martin should be applauded for setting it up. Presumeably he needs also to make a living and part of this is by making TV appearances.

Martin should, however, remember that many of the ideas and moneysaving tips he uses on his TV appearances originate in threads posted on this site by members expecting and receiving no reward other than the satisfaction of helping others. It is a symbiotic relationship and IMHO Martin should have been more selective in what he promoted to a wider audience.

In this particular case I have never understood how Tesco could justify accepting all MOCs irrespective of purchases and I am surprised scammers have taken so long to realise they could take advantage in an organised way. Obviously Tesco need to balance protecting and promoting themselves and if their overall sales go down significantly no doubt some new policy regarding MOCs will emerge. All their promotions seem to have difficulties because the rules seem to change over time in order to close "loopholes" as Martin likes to call them.

I the meantime we do have a lot more collective brainpower than Tesco to look for ways of saving money and utilising whatever offers they come up with.

does anyone not see the irony re, most - if not all - complainers against the gmtv appearance have presumably found out where to get the coupons from this site, ie. on the newspapers thread etc. and been given advice about how to use on this site.

You beat me to it :rotfl: Sometimes the level of greed on this site amazes me ,

Do people think this site is run by Martin just for them?
If so they are sadly mistaken.
Martin Lewis works for the nation as a whole. I for one think he does a very good job of it too!:p

No point blaming Martin, those to blame are the ones that abused the system and used coupons when not actually buying the item. Not to mention those that use numerous coupons or photocopies.

Its not just the supermarket that suffers but the manufacturer as well. The lost costs will simply be added to the price of goods so that everyone pays more.

Tesco's should have never allowed the coupons to be used in the first place where the item was not being purchased, poor business decision and wide open to abuse as they have found out.

I am really upset about this, Martin Lewis and his team do great work with Council tax, mortgage, PPI etc reclaiming, but coupons were not his baby, his team do not spend hours searching for them, helping with coupon quieries and maintaining the printable coupon thread.
It seems to me that he has gone on tv with this (all our hard work) and screwed us over. It's pretty obvious that a policy that is not on Tescos posters, leaflets, and the website is not for national advertising. He is smart enough to realise this was always a fragile policy.
We never tried to keep it a secret and all for ourselves, we have welcomed and helped newbies and shared all finds, but instead of just being satisfied with it being on the site, and appearing in the newsletter periodically it appears Martin was determined to give it the widest audience possible " look at this, look what I found" and killed it.
