Hello to the new posters! I will certainly pop back here more often this year, I have to save up for a car, a motorbike and at least one holiday whilst getting my business off the ground!

For the ones who don't know I'm the token male on this thread, 24yrs old and starting a brewery in cornwall!

Oh this has been inspired by a thread in the DFW board... my objectives for 2011 are:

    - Get Fit Again! Join the gym, start gig rowing again and get my darn bicycle fixed!
    - Get A Steady Income! Find an investor for my business, get my Door Supervisor licence.
    - Go On Holiday! Plan, research and go on a cheap but really fun holiday with my gf.
    - Eat Properly! Meal plans, fixed shopping lists and no junk!
    - Get Transport! Pass both my motorbike and car tests then buy one or the other!

    Hello

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas SAID ladies (and guys!)! :xmassign:

Mine was quite quiet. It's fair to say I haven't exactly been in the festive spirit. My department at work are being reorganised and I had to submit an application, effectively for my own job, before Christmas. Send off a CV? Oh no, that would be far too simple! They made us fill in all these boxes with examples of when we've done this or that. Blah, blah, blah...

As if that weren't enough, I had another situation to deal with when my pervy colleague decided to indecently expose himself to me in the office. I started a thread on the Employment board about it because I just had no idea what to do. I've reported him now and it is currently under investigation. Just when you thought you'd had all the carp life could throw at you. Sorry for moaning :(

I have no idea what the state of my finances are. I fear it's not good  I really need to get a grip on those and other areas of my life in the new year. I may start another diary  I've been quite quiet, just trying to sort myself out this year, but as soon as I get over one situation, another one seems to come along. Hmm...I need to formulate some plans for 2011 I think. I need to make sure it isn't a repeat of 2010...

  • Hi Gwen,

I just wanted to sympathise with you over the job thing. In the 18 months before I was made redundant in July 2010 I had to reapply for my job 3 times while the company was "reorganised". It became so stressful as it just left everyone feeling so insecure about their futures. Lo and behold in Jan 2010 the company decided it was going to relocate 30 miles away. We were offered the chance to yet again reapply for our jobs in the new location, or take redundancy.

Even though it was a job that I absolutely loved it has meant that I have had to rethink my life and how and what I do. Six months on, yes I miss some of my old customers and colleagues but am far less stressed and have more time to do other things. It has taught me that sometimes you can turn things around and make a positive out of a negative.

Best of luck with the other stuff too, that must be a real hassle.

  • Hi all

Sorry to hear about your dad Butterflies - hugs.

And Gwen, sorry to hear about office perv (will check back on your thread) - hope your job situation works out OK.

    Welcome newbies :D

    News from here... hmmm...
Work and MSc a little bit calmer. Soooo looking forward to having it all over with. Friends are already taking the mick about what degree am I signing up for next - I'm not, I'm really really not, I've had enough!

Refused to go to parents for Christmas and have spent it on my own. Enjoyable for me - was desperately in need of some peace and it's about the first time in 4 months I have had a couple of days to do nothing - but seems to have scandalised all sorts of people. I did visit the weekend before and am seeing other family tomorrow, just couldn't face the travel chaos and the day itself would honestly not have been fun. Have had to bite tongue several times now as people have expressed concern that being alone for the calendar date of a winter festival for a religion I don't follow poses some kind of huge danger to my mental health... they clearly haven't met my family :rotfl:

No news on love life - well except for somehow having a major teenage regression at the end of term and finding that my course evaluation form's list of good things included [lecturer's name] [heart] :o:o:D:eek: and I had to hand it in because he'd have seen me rip it up! Fortunately I won't have to see him next term :o

Have been doing lots of thinking. But, strange and good, managing not to beat myself up over things in the process. Thought through a lot of things from a previous phase of life, which prompted me to get back in touch with a good friend but has also had me thinking about a friend/ ex-boyfriend I've lost touch with. I keep thinking of him as I have to regularly visit our old haunts at the moment. Haven't looked him up online or anything as I'm not sure I could handle the answers, so for the minute am just sad about it. Hopefully if I think it all through I can let it go.

For 2011 I just want to pass my MSc without getting stressed and ill. Once the exams are over I'll think about debts, meeting people and other things.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and has a fab New Year

    Hello All

Glad to see some of you back here but Gwen, how horrible about that perv at work!!! What a nasty thing to deal with. Hope things go well at work as well with your reorganisation. We;re going to go through something similar in 2011 so I'm keeping fingers crossed that this will be ok for me.

Butterflies - so sorry to hear your news. So sad.

Rosa - why not spend Xmas alone. I have spent quite a few NYE's alone and I love it, nice food, great DVD's and some very chilled out times!!!

I had a really great Christmas, my family came to me and as I only moved into this flat in July it was my first Christmas in my own home!!!! Hurrah!

We had a few hiccups along the way, my niece transpires to have a nut allergy so we had to go to A&E on Xmas Day after a pistachio incident! She recovered really quickly once she'd had the piriton and the rest of the day was fine. Luckily for us, we weren't celebrating Xmas on the day itself as my BIL had to work that day so we did Xmas on Boxing Day. It worked brilliantly though and didn't feel at all wrong!!!!

My nieces are tiny so we were able to fake it so they didn't realise!

I need to get myself together for 2011, I need to get some goals together and get my plans sorted in my head. I might even try a diary!!!

Hope you all have a fabulous New Years!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
