Hello all, have evaded the NM's clutches and live to fight another day:). I haven't been on for a while as I have been stressing very badly about money:( but I have calmed down a little and am back on track, my aims for this year are to clear the Barclaycard and fill my ISA, if I can do those I will be happy.

They will be easily achieved if I can meet my £20k target which I will only do if I live as frugally as possible for the entire year:eek: which I am going to do because I have had more than enough treats to last a lifetime and it is only a year. I need to stop pootling along and do it properly.

I need to do some food shopping so I have a separate purse in my bag which I will put £20 in each week and if I get through that I will have to live off what's in the cupboard ie beans and custard. :( this means no treats will be able to fall in the trolley:( I still have a huge pile of bargain chocolates from Christmas though, which should last me 2-3 months. :D

It's not going to be much fun but I will feel a lot happier about it when I start to see the results. I have been as frugal as possible this month but all December's purchases have hit my account so I have only been able to meet the minimum payments on things. But I have not added to my debt so it is going in the right direction. :)

Sarah it will be tough but you can do it. My food budget is about that and it is doable. I online shop at when I get paid and then just buy bread, odd bit of milk and fruit and veg in the month (and obv pizzas and an odd bit of carp too, I'm not perfect!) Think how you will feel when you pay off all that.

I've had a carpy, boring month but am focused to start paying stuff off and getting sorted when I get paid. Good luck X

Hi all, well ive been cleaning the bathroom for the last hour!!! Hadnt done it in about 8 weeks!!! was pretty gross tbf!! yuk yuk and yuk!! still thats done now and also stripped the bedlinen too... (must get out of mindset that just because it s just me in the bed i can go longer without changing...)

also had a phone call which shocked me to be honest.. My nan!! i hadnt spoke to her or seen her in 3 years... which when you think how when my grandad was alive i was going every weekend... But to cut a long story short last time i saw her she told me " when your mum told your dad she was pregnant he wasnt very happy at all" .. well i was so upset i told her if she didnt apologise for that she would nt see me again.. and guess what i didnt... so out of the blue tonight she rang... she is 81... she said she felt lonely and thought she d give me a call... hmmm she said she has no recollection of the last visit and wondered why she hadnt seen me... but if she had upset me she was sorry... SO i said apology accepted..and am going over for a cuppa tomorrow....

It may seem harsh for me to fall out with her over that... but believe me that wasnt the first nasty thing she had said to me or my parents...

But i am glad she got back in touch... ive missed seeing her.. and will be nice to go and see how she is..although i had heard she had deteriorated..can hardly walk and not go out on her own anymore... so i do still feel a bit bad for not being able to bring myself to see her....

    Hows everyone else anyhow? x

TDQO, how annoying? I did a bit of student politics when I was at uni, but that wasn't yesterday!!!

Yeh it doesn't help that there are 4 people running for the same position and I know for a fact that at least one of them is a slimy, back-stabbing git!

It looks like I'm staying in tonight as my friend hasn't got back to me. I did go out and get absolutely trashed last night though so can't complain!

My friend let me know that her friend "thinks I'm cute" which she was insinuating meant a fairly high level of attraction but now I'm sober it probably doesn't mean anything. She is quite hot though :o

OOh that sounds promising TDQO. I'm hottie hunting on PoF at the mo.

Yargo that's not a nice thing to say but think older folk sometimes just open their mouths and let it out without thinking, no excuse but ...

    .

Yeh it does, she seems like my kind of girl, very pretty, auburn hair, very blunt and speaks her mind but doesn't sleep around and is intelligent and well mannered.

I'm just not going to build it up into anything, will just see if anything happens.

This brought a tear to my eyes...i am glad you got an apology or sorts becseu too often people treat their 'nearest and dearest' like dirt. And reconciliations initiated by the older ones is rare...Hope you can patch up and catch up without further trauma.:)
