Sarah - I read a book once about careers - it was ages ago and I can't remember the title but something to do with umbrellas?

I think they key ideas was working out what you are interested in - so for example - Shoegal is a fan of shoes so she could consider a career in this field!

They suggested things like thinking about which section you like to read first in the newspapers and that kind of thing.

It does depend upon your current job and skills about what you could do. Is the problem your job or your current company? could you do the same job but in another company or does your job transfer to other fields at all?

Depending on what you were interseted in doing, would voluntary work be a way of getting into it? That might be a good idea as well for meeting new people (who may have fabulous single, eligible friends) and also for doing something that costs not much!

For myself, although this wasn't a path I intended to follow - I got a job working for a company that was quite different to the previous one I'd worked for but the job itself was very similar. At the new company I learnt a lot of stuff about this new field and was able to jump up into a new role which was a significant promotion at my current company using all the stuff I'd learnt in my last job.

(If this doens't make sense, Sarah, PM me and I'll explain it properly just don't want to write all about my work history here with the whole world watching!)
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

Sorry about your house/work situation. Hating your job is awful. The feeling of dread when you wake up in the morning and when you're sat there praying for hometime. You've got to be happy somewhere though. I don't think being unhappy at work and unhappy at home is very healthy. If it means moving, then it's not great, but it's better than ending up really unhappy.

Hadn't really though of it like that as the home situation is quite new, but I am not happy anywhere at the moment and it is very draining. I need to stop plodding along. I am going to look at some career websites and the jobs pages of the paper and make a list of my qualifications and experience and see if anything fits.

Lula I feel sure that a 100 calorie shop would not sell the 4 custard creams I ate whilst watching the show tonight!! Night all and dodgy hugs to Sarah and Buffy. XXX
