I think that cereal is huge waste of money actually & plan to stop buying so called healthy ones, fibre ones, weight loss inducing ones ( lies) & ones that fill you up ( more lies) & just buy weetabix from now on.
I agree, cereal is a huge waste of money, not only that but if I ever have cereal in the mornings, which is very rare, I am absolutely ravenous an hour later. I am going to try to have fruit for breakfast, that way I can take it to work with me and I will get some of my 5 a day, which is another thing I want to do properly.
I have decided that my frugality is not going to be of the 9p noodle type, it's not a good idea for me to eat carp if I am trying to lose weight/be healthy, even if it is cheaper.
Also, no toiletries except toothpaste and mouthwash, and anything that is left at the end of the year I will throw out as it will be too old for me to use, some of it is a couple of years old at least. Then I will at least have some more storage space.
No more books until I have read through the big pile of unread ones I already have. I must not go in bookshops/look at amazon until they are all read and stored properly/charity shopped
I have had a pile of books/clothes ready for the charity shop for over a month now. I must get that done this weekend.
I think I will feel a lot better about this when everything is decluttered, I might make that my job for the weekend, I can easily fill a few bin bags if I am ruthless enough. I need to lose another stone and then have another trying on session to see what actually fits.
I also need to go through my paperwork, I have a massive pile which is all over the place and needs storing properly.
There is too much to do! I really should have though of this at the beginning of my 2 weeks off:oPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
I spent a lot in the last few days of December - partly to stock up on nice presenty things in the sales, also to beat the VAT increase as I had a couple of big things I needed to buy. I'm ready to embrace frugality now though.

Hey everyone!
Happy New Year!
I'm feeling slightly better now....seriously rough when woke this morning...who knew sparkles could be so bad.....
Spent evening with my gay pals, we started off in Pizza Express then moved to a friends flat who had a fancy bottle of champagne. We then had to head back to another friends flat (who I was staying with) to get my trainers as I had worn my super high heels and they were killing my feet. They had somehow managed to give me a massive blister on the sole of my foot
On leaving the flat to get my trainers, I realised I couldn't walk another step in my heels so started the journey in my socks :eek:
It was agony and surprisingly the alcohol hadn't numbed the pain.....
I was so pathetic that one of my darling friends gave me his trainers to wear and he walked in his socks instead.....:A
I'm still hobbling now and must seriously remind myself that heels for me are STRICTLY taxi shoes....
Meeting my parents tomorrow for some art gallery wanderings so that should be good and lovely to catch up some more with them.
Can't believe i still have two days off work, seems like ages since I was last sat at my desk :jI've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction

V true - it does make a difference to your metabolism to eat breakfast as well. I find porridge is the best thing but of course it's time consuming and I refuse to pay for microwave sachets. May have to just weigh one and work out the proportions so can do it with just oats!
And of course expensive chocolate is much better for you as it's more cocoa hit for less sugar.
(Plus have now turned into a terrible chocolate snob and actually won't raid the corner shop any more as don't like their stuff - keeps me out of trouble
)Also, no toiletries except toothpaste and mouthwash, and anything that is left at the end of the year I will throw out as it will be too old for me to use, some of it is a couple of years old at least.
Have just had a thought about this as am looking for a home for some Christmas stuff that I won't use. I did hear that some charities need toiletries, eg. women's refuges. Anybody got any ideas which ones or how to donate? (Sarah just thinking if you did have leftover stuff near its date, it could go to someone who would appreciate it.)

Hi everybody
Had my parents over for lunch yesterday and somehow managed to drink far too much wine
followed by almost 12 hours of lovely sleep
Woken up to snow and icy roads so plan to stay indoors today. Need to get some domestic stuff done, and really need to think about an exercise plan  my weight is not going to disappear without help :rolleyes:Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Morning F Fabulous people :hello:I have had a pile of books/clothes ready for the charity shop for over a month now. I must get that done this weekend.
Sarah - why don't you list your books on Green Metropolis, it's dead easy, just set up your account, go to "sell books" bit, put in the ISBN number off the back of your book & away you go.
Just a thought, might get you a few pounds during the year, unless you're desparate to get rid of them as you need the space

Morning all,
Just caught up again. Had my last fab night out with the gays. They're off back to London now.
On the subject of breakfast ladies I sometimes do the evil South Beach Diet when I need to lose weight and it got me on to eating protein in the morning and that keeps you full til lunchtime. I have boiled eggs or an omelette and it really works.
Lula, I think you should show your undies to folk at the bus stop, just to stop your 'No one will see them' thoughts from coming true!!!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

Yep, that's working for me so far, Had a big cooked brekkie yesterday & that did me all day. Just had scrambled eggs on toast now & really think the protein thing is the way forward for me
I think you just want me to get arrested for flashing so that you can go on a shopping bingeLula, I think you should show your undies to folk at the bus stop, just to stop your 'No one will see them' thoughts from coming true
I do have someone in mind to show them to
but not until I'm back to being a size 8 again, will just have to wow him with my witty repartee & charm for now :rotfl:.
All good here today, very cold & frosty out so we're in & have taken down the tree & packed all decorations away. Now just have to hoover the place & restore furniture .
Have sorted through all my paperwork & happily found some prepaid envelopes so can return my unused & expired CC to Capital One for free
. I also found 5 books of unused CC cheques so ripped those up too.
Even better, I found a £20 note in an envelope amonst all my other paperwork :j & planning to go to embankment to see production of Twelfth Night tomorrow so that will pay for train fare ... going to take hot chocolate in a flask to keep DD warm on the cheap
.
Going to spend the rest of the day decluttering, tidying & cleaning & maybe have a Gordon tonight as it's the week end

I agree about the protein diet, I did it a while ago and did lose quite a lot of weight, was quite epensive though. Might try to get back into it at some stage when I am more organised.
Woke up to snow:eek:. Luckily not as bad as last time so was able to leave the house. Had to collect my prescription, put lottery tickets on and then stocked up on fruit juice and pop while it was half price, am getting through gallons of it at the moment, also some reduced bread and 4 tins of beans as they were reduced from £2 to 89p and will get used. Total spend today £27.42:eek:. Still need petrol and forgot soda water but will do that tomorrow.
Still have not written out my 100 list although I have done a rough one, so need to get that sorted today and need to decide if the shoes are going back.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Hmmm sounds like you're all being terribly productive, if only I could say the same! Still haven't printed out the forms I need to send to Oz as my flatmates printer is bust. As soon as I get them done it should take less than a month for me to get my $1500!!
I have started my revision though, am doing all the easy bits now as my hardest exams are first... I can revise for them in the 3 days directly before them so I don't forget it all again! The advantage of having one exam a day for 5 days is that at least I have the entire day afterwards to revise for the next one!
I'm going to do the 100 thing but not actually 100 as I think it;s afar too many to be realistic. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Otherwise, you are bound to lose a truck, sooner or later. Source: Sergio Cha
