  • makeup, not b*tchy at all, children do tend to take over sometimes.

Lula, stop with the stressed, overwhelmed and guilty:naughty:. You are an excellent friend. :A Would rearranging your visit be a time consuming thing or could you just send a text with a couple of dates, get it sorted and put it in your diary and move on to the next thing? Sometimes easy but slightly annoying things are best if you just tackle them and tick them off instead of letting them stick in the back of your mind annoying you.

Would you be able to get a couple of things on your list done while chatting on here at the same time? I hate wrapping things so am planning to do it next weekend with wine and and a CD of carols playing, if you get one of your least favourite tasks out of the way the rest will feel less daunting. I often put things in a list and feel overwhelmed by it but in all honesty a lot of them are 10 minute jobs which I just hate doing and I feel a lot better when I get them out of the way.

How annoying about needing more christmas presents

I have felt utterly out of control with spending on presents & also hate not being organized. I think it was makeup who said about being all done with presents by end of november as december is for parties & having fun. Utterly brilliant & I intend to adopt this for 2010.

I'm really not having much fun at all, I just feel stressed, overwhelmed & guilty :o. I have also just remembered that I am meant to be rescheduling a visit to my lovely friend in cornwall over the festive period.

I am not being a very good friend to my longstanding friends & it makes me feel bad. Another situation to rectify on the 2010 list.

Need to continue with my task list now ...

Yes that was me. I've done panic shopping in past and find it a horrible horrendous experience. I'm not quite done with the shopping but only two things left to get, one to order from Amazon when voucher arrives and second I need to make trip to Habitat to get.

I do sometimes find the preparations get a bit overwhelming for Xmas. Beforehand you've all the wrapping (eurgh, a job I'm rubbish at, no one ever gets a beautifully wrapped gift with bows and ribbon......) and shopping and card writing and then on Christmas EVE or DAy you've got masses of peeling and chopping and other drudgery tasks......

Can you have something fun that you love to do as motivation - eg. going to see a cheesy film with DD (can recommend Nativity, very funny and Christmassy) or a fave DVD or something. Basically something nice but which doesn't involve a ton of boring preparation???

Next Saturday I'm going to a market in Marylebone which is swanky part of London with a goood friend and we will just be having a look, talking gossipy sh**e and stuffing our faces with whatever food is on offer, we have voucher or deal for. And of course if they are selling mulled wine would be rude to refuse....
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Sarah, I know is annoying to still have presents to buy but we still have almost two weeks to go so you have still done well!! At least this isn't Christmas EVe

Also, thanks for reminding me about Christmas Carol, is my fave Christmas story too and I love seeing it - in whatever carrpy incarnation - I don't care and was at library today so borrowed it in an edition with other Xmas stories so will read on the train to my sisters ready for Xmas!!

Oh yes, and Bah Humbug to rubbish free gift....it is the point you went with them in the first place so you have right to be miffed!

I have done quite well, but like you I am not one of those people who manages to wrap everything with bells and whistles:rolleyes:. I just do my best and try to cover the damage with tissue paper and gift bags.:o I hate it! I can only cope if I get it all done in one day, so need everything to be here, plus have 3 birthday presents to sort out as wellicon8.gif

I love it :D Always makes me feel very Christmassy, I like to read it in bed by lamplight and some goodies to hand, love all the film and cartoon adaptations too:jFab idea to read it on the train, it's just the right length and will get you in the mood:D

Exactly! Am most annoyed, it would have been lovely as a present, luckily I decided to keep it for myself but still:mad:. If there had been a note saying they had to substitute it as they ran out, then fair enough, but this is trickery:mad:

Thanks guys for the bucket of cold water & slap , am now calm again.

I just freeze when faced with multiple tasks. I spent at least half an hour earlier just chanting all the things I need to do in my head - yep, am losing it big time :rotfl:

Would love to do fun things but am working up til christmas eve so cannot do anything until after. Had thought of going to panto but DD already going with school & just wasnt organized enough to book one elsewhere . Starting this new job with 3 days notice has really put all my systems out of whack, was meant to have a nice calm run up to christmas with plenty of time to do stuff eg homebaking, decorations & booking activities.

The Freaking family Drama hasnt really helped & has also occupied 3 out of the last 4 weekends .

As to visiting dear friend .. it's not going to happen unless DD miraculously finds a car. No chance of boarding cat now - financially or logistically. will send long & apologetic email & just hope that her fairly new romance is still in full bloom so she'll actually be relieved ;).

Need to update task list again ...
  • I love pressie wrapping, have been saving it as a fun job! Maybe I should set this up as a sideline next year!

I need two more pressies in time for Christmas, one I can pick up tomorrow and the other on Monday. I confess I'm planning to buy the ones I only need to hand over on the 29th after Christmas as it gives me more time and may be cheaper! :o

Haven't done cards yet and am planning to cut right back - just send to people I really want to write to and won't be seeing. Am tired of spending days writing cards to relatives/ former friends/ random people who I never see and won't really notice the difference, besides it's expensive and not very eco-friendly with all the paper and transport. So am going to make a charity donation instead and send lovely email ones to all but international and very special people.

Lula - stop stressing, you're fabulous and doing amazingly at sorting everything along with a new job.

    Morning all,

feeling all fired up & buzzing with energy ( aka coffee ;)) am whizzing through my list of chores to be done & that helps me feel more capable about what else is to be done.

Whilst transferring info into my new diary I noticed a page to fill in resolutions & brilliantly, it was divided into categories which really pleased my OCD/anal/loving-things-in-boxes type mind :o

Thought they might be helpful for you guys & also there were only 5 lines for each category so only 50 in total, maybe we can come up with some new ones to make up the difference :D

" I am setting the following goals for me to achieve in 2010 and I commit myself to making them happen"

    Physical
    Mental
    Self Development
    Money/Finance
    Career/Work
    Family
    Social
    Spiritual
    Emotional
    Property

Dont laugh :o I actually found the categories really helpful as it gave me some idea of where to focus my energy & also think about how much I could possible achieve from each section & what was really important to me & what really doesnt matter.

Off to upset the cat now by getting the hoover out ... :rotfl:

Hi all, Just caught up as was watching X at a mates last night and then an FWB came round. Sitting in bed today reading this which I never do but it's really freezing outside.

Have only got 2 of my bro's presents to pick up tomorrow and I'm done. I'm carp at wrapping too though, but I just tell my family it's given with love.

Sarah didn't actually write that comment a few pages back. But I could have!

Hope you all have good days. XXX

I started to reply but I'm a bit p****d & it turned into a ramble that didn't make any sense when I read it back. If you still want a reply remind me on Sunday when I''ll probably be sober.

    Ahem,

all ears & waiting for your words of wisdom ....
  • Hello everyone,

Hope everybody is getting into the festive spirit. I had a good night out in newcastle last night for the badminton christmas do. We had a nice meal and then went to a few pubs and clubs, it started getting a bit messy when we started on tequila slammers and sambuca. Got home about 3:30am.

Then decided to go to badminton today to sweat off the alcohol, :rotfl:

Just got back and I have loads to do this week for christmas.

    Keep busy everyone
